Check this out, Dont know where the OP heard about this, but what do you guys think?

http://www.mwcboard.com/www/forums/index.php?showtopic=41381
It's speculation about non-football sports.
However, the board was refreshing, there were 34 replies and no attempt to hijack the thread. Many actually seemed knowledgeable about the Big Sky schools.

From that board, I REALLY liked this alignment....

North
EWU
PSU
Idaho
BSU
Idaho State
Montana
Montana State
Seattle
North Dakota

South
Sac State
Denver
UNC
Weber
SUU
NAU
NMSU
CSUB
UVU

The North (Big Sky?) would cover Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and North Dakota. The South (WAC?) would cover California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.

Who might the other teams be?
Utah Valley State.
Central Washington -- now that Western Washington is long gone.
Western Oregon
San Diego--the only non Big Sky FCS team left in California
Is Saint Mary's bringing football back?

South Dakota and South Dakota State? North Dakota State? Oh wait, I'm just being silly.

I take those statements with a grain of salt. Consider the source. Fullerton has illusions of grandeur and won’t stop until the entire FCS is in the Big Sky. He's like Hitler eyeballin' Poland.

Funniest damn thing I've read all day!! :thumb:

UVU -- uh, not likely unless they are in a position to add football right away, which I don't think they are. The mighty Wolverines of Utah County (one of the weirdest places on earth, think invasion of the body snatchers weird) have talked about adding football, but it is years away before they do. Besides, could Utah handle another team in Utah County. We already have to deal with the dung pile that is BYU.

It would make sense having one of the Dakotas, but like it has been pointed out...that is a pipe dream (smoking that stuff in those pipes make the coeds at Northern Colorado look hot, but even that is kinda a stretch)

Idalol or nothing!! No more DII teams. Well, maybe Central Washington. I mean they are on par with Idaho State.

Did someone say St. Mary's? Would be awesome if they joined the Sky, but they wouldn't leave the WCC for the Big Sky. They are putting all their eggs in the basketball basket.

Who knows the six schools. I'm sure New Mexico State could be in those discussions to. But Las Cruces?!? Yikes...think of Cheney but worse.

Why? This has nothing to do with football or did you miss that?

Seriously?!? You think the Big Sky is thinking of adding non-football playing members? If that were the case Denver and Seattle would already be members.

How is this not about football? If you don't have a football team, there is no point to applying. Anyone who thinks the WAC is viable as a non-football playing member is fooooooling themselves. Get over yourself dude and get with the freakin program. You better believe this is about Football. Last I checked the Big Sky conference had 13 football members and 11 all-sport members. You are the supposed (self-proclaimed of course) king of data. I would have thought you knew how to count. Right now the Sky needs another football playing member to get to two divisions, and it is in the Sky's best interest to find an ALL-SPORTS member to bring that number to 12/14. So, yeah, I'm pretty sure this is about football. Only options, IDAHO and New Mexico State. I wouldn't want anyone else, unless it was a team from one of the Dakota's.

If you go to Bruce's Bar I'll get ya a beer for all the insults I've levied at you over the past year.

Dude. Read the thread.

THe whole idea of the merger is in reality from a basketball point of view, however, you know that football would be in the back of the Big Sky's mind when or if they invite any more members.

I think Idaho moves thier olympic sports to the Sky, and keeps thier FBS staus via independence and unless someone picks them up, they will return to the Big Sky eventually, they are not BYU or Notre Dame, they do not have the money to survive independence.

And Im not entirely sure I like the idea of a merger, because I have a feeling Weber will be separated from thier traditional rivals.

But if it got you NMSU on the schedule twice a year, wouldn't that be a nice tradeoff from an RPI standpoint?

You can't read. Did you see any mention of BSC football-only members CPSLO and UC Davis? Uh-no. And BSU is included, so in your delusion you think this means football? Uh-no. Is that a Weber education you're sporting?

Dude. Read the thread.

Dude, like so, uh, maybe you should read the thread. Didn't it start out speculating about the "possible 6?" The other schools supposedly wanting in to the Big Sky? A possible merger, which is foolish at best, has been discussed, but it isn't the main point of the thread. Just for you...Idaho to the 'Sky talk + "6 other terms" is the Threads title. What does that entail? Let me help you. Let's see, the title is about how Idaho could (the Vandals, you know in Moscow) rejoin the Sky. The cursory aspect of the title then deals with the "possible 6" teams that are interested in membership. This title, to me at least, doesn't deal with a merger between the WAC and Big Sky. Maybe, for you, such a thread would be titled "Big Sky and WAC could possibly merge." I recognize you do struggle understanding the POINT behind titles. So, I hope this helps you in the future.

Oh...

This is what I'm talking about...

No, I like rivalries :( and I would hate to lose one of our biggest rivalries

Dude...seriously!! You quoted me. I wasn't talking about the MWC forum. I was putting in my two cents on possible teams that want an invitation to the Big Sky. YES, I do recognize that there are WAC teams that don't have football, that probably want in. Yes, I read that, but I wasn't commenting on that and IMHO the Sky isn't going to let in teams without a football team, unless it is Idaho.

If you quote someone, you probably should have some idea of what they are talking about. Granted, this is a forum and there really isn't a fluid conversation, but no where in the title of this thread is there a mention of a merger between the WAC and SKy for Oly sports. BESIDES THIS IS A FOOTBALL FORUM!! Why would we be talking about basketball. Also, why would I, or anyone else for that matter, even mention CPSLO of Davis? They are already members of the Big Sky or has that escaped your attention.

Speaking of U DA HO, former vandal QB Doug Nussmeier is now the defending chamion Alabama Crimson Tide Offensive Coordinator under Nick Saban, arguably the best head football coach in America.

Nussmeier, 42, played five seasons at quarterback in the NFL, four with the New Orleans Saints and one with the Indianapolis Colts. He played quarterback at Idaho and threw for 10,824 yards in his career. Along with the late Steve McNair and Daunte Culpepper, he is one of only three college quarterbacks in history to account for 10,000 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing in a career.

Nussmeier is respected in the recruiting world. He helped reel in top 25 recruiting classes to Washington in 2010 and 2011, according to ESPN's team rankings.

Then, why would YOU introduce the MWC link, which got a lot of airplay and had nothing to do with football? You still can't read; I stated in my last post that CPSLO and UC Davis were BSC football-only members, but were not mentioned in the MWC thread you introduced, as evidence that it had nothing to do with football.

Comment on my reading abilities and you can't tell the differenct between two completely different names. Hmmm...guess you aren't the poster child for Montana scholars. EPIC FAIL... The problem is, this is what you're STILL talking about, when it's been shown very clearly that that was NEVER the case, never on the table, and NOT under consideration, now or ever. Yet you blather on about non-football schools joining the BSC like it's imminent. :? :? :?
