Now 3-1 in conference and just handily beat a decent PSU. That win looks a bit better every week. What a good hire Hawkins was for ISU

Unfortunately for them, they close the season out with some tough games:
@ Sac
vs. Weber
vs. UC Davis
@ Idaho
Might be a spoiler in there, though.

There was a pass that was clearly incomplete after being broken up, but the officials said was caught (after first saying it wasn't), and the announcers were just beside themselves after review that they would call a clearly incomplete pass not a catch.

They ran that flex defense in the past. Wonder if bringing in Robbie was part of implementing the 3-3-5 and the mentality that goes with the style of play.

I know it gets a lot of crap here, but the use of the 3-3-5 seems to be increasing rather than decreasing.
I think we have let it become over simplified here. For MANY decades, teams have run a 3-3-5 at times. A 3-4 defense bringing in a nickel back is just a 3-3-5 (though we have obviously made many adjustments beyond that). It isn't a crazy set to run, and if it was a terrible defense then more and more teams wouldn't be adopting it. I'm a much bigger fan of varying fronts all the way from three down linemen to five down linemen, and everything in between, but I don't hate the 3-3-5 as a base at all.
I think a much more nuanced conversation around running it as the base defense with other looks vs running it as the entire defensive scheme makes plenty of sense, but we have developed a bit too much hate here for running three linemen, three linebackers, and five DBs.

Weebs isn’t the tough out they were last year. All the rest are gonna be rough. Davis is a coin flip with how ISU has been improving.
Of all the teams in the BSC, I kind of like the Bengals for some reason. It might be The Jungle on Twitter/X… those students run a funny fan account. They were hilarious and classy before and after our game. Plus they trolled the spuds mercilessly leading up to and after the game last week.

Could you link to that? Sounds funny
They certainly could beat us this year, but I hope not. There is no sin greater at WSU than to lose to those rivals up north. Coaches have been fired for doing that very thing. As a coach, you might get by with losing to the Bengals once, but twice and you will be shown the exit door. :lol:Griz Addict said:uofmman1122 said:Very good showing from the Bengals.

I think they beat Weber and UC Davis is a toss up for them.
