hey, here's a red-hot thread, no? but let's think this through: we've got the consecutive game record, streaks always end, and i'm not thrilled about having to beat a team for a third time in the playoffs. so a loss to weber tonight wouldn't be the end of the world. you might make the case it would be good for us.

but idaho state? this is the tough back-end of a two-game road trip, compounded by the sure letdown after an emotional weber game. a letdown would be understandable, but a loss devastating for home-court advantage. so let's forget about weber and put our concentration where it belongs, okay?

(awn! sorry, bro. didn't mean to confuse you. we still play weber tonight.)
 
I agree. A loss tonight might be not such a bad thing. Take the pressure of the "streak" off, give Tinks something to bitch about in practice, refocus the team, etc., etc.

I'm sorry, but this is just idiotic! I am sure Tinkle, the players and most fans would agree it's better to have the streak than to want to lose one to take that pressure off. We ARE FOCUSED, so why would we need to lose to get REFOCUSED?!
 
city, I agree a loss would not be a huge problem. 1 game lead with 5 to play and the team would definitely re-focus to kick ISU out of the gym. However, I think this team wants to be at the highest level and getting a 3 game lead with 5 to play and the chance to keep the streak alive going through ISU and on to the ESPN game will be huge. Great teams get it done when it counts and the next 3 games really count for the kids and program on a national stage. After Davidson the Griz have 4 games against teams a combined 9 games under .500 and only one has a winning record. Definitely a chance to slip up in any of those games but lots of leadership to carry them through.
 
The fact that tonight’s game really doesn’t matter all that much makes me think we’ll be that much tougher to beat. All the pressure is on Weber State.

I disagree, a Weber State win puts a lot of pressure on the Griz to finish. A win for the Griz here pretty much seals it, but If Weber wins, it's a one game lead with Weber having the easier remaining schedule.

The pressure is on the Griz about the same as for Weber
 
No way. The pressure is ALL on Weber, for the following reasons:

1. If they lose, the conference race is OVER. If they beat Weber, UM would need to lose 4 of their remaining BSC games for Weber to win the conference, and I think it's safe to say that ain't happenin'.

2. Weber is at home, so they should win.

3. Rahe's succuss vs. Montana and Tinks has been limited lately, and with another loss (especially at home) Weber fans will begin to wonder if Tinks just has his number.
 
face facts bro. randy ray probly gets fired if he loses this game. only way he dont is if they somehow win the confrence tourney. webers program has been in the shitter for to many yrs and he just cant win the big ones.
 
yo, griz fans! wake up!! six of the last seven threads are about weber. get over the 80-year-old crankpot color-announcer throwing hissyfits! shift your focus to idaho state. do it now! else tomorrow the thin-skinned crybabies will be demanding an investigation into bengali.
 
I watched more of the Idaho State game against MSU than the Griz game..Wow...if they shoot and play defense like they did againt MSU, Idaho State would be the one chasing Weber..One kid made 9 3pts..and the MSU coach was playing man, and doubling....they also showed an interior strength they hadn't shown all year and one that is woefully lacking for the Montana. This could be a very interesting game and I wish I could watch it, alas....the announcers at ISU were pretty good...unlike the Weber and UM staff...The only thing I can take away from the Weber blow out of the Griz is that Davidson is even better than Weber...gonna be a tough week end, I'm afraid....
 
Here's how I look at it.

If we can't beat Idaho State, we don't deserve to host the tournament, and we should just hand the league to Weber State.

But...

Idaho State needs to remember that we are not the Bobcats.

This is always an interesting debate, personally I am with AZGriz. I don't think a loss at this point is a bad thing. It is hard to have a bunch of kids in their teens or early 20's to be driven to not lose a single game for months on end. I do think it helps Tinkle focus the boys. It's human nature to start to tune him out when he is talking about how tough teams are and how hard they need to be working when they never lose a game.

At this point we better hope SeaGriz was not right. I hate to think our FOCUSED team got blown out in a game where they missed a couple dozen lay-ups.
 
Time to start the next streak! Hopefully the Griz can dominate and get some of that mojo back!!
