Apparently a booster with deep pockets may have caused some problems..

My first impression was that of the NCAA investigation to ascertain if the Idaho State University Athletic Department even existed or not; then I remembered that they had a women's BB team. Could still possibly be; maybe the ladies are a club team, like in YWCA or something.

O.K. the full moon made me do it.

My initial thought as well.

Interesting, though, that Martin didn't notify the AD until after he was rejected for the position.

Gotta wonder about that. Why was Martin holding out on this information? You'd think, if you were dedicated to running a clean program, that you would immediately notify the AD and compliance if a booster approached you with the intention of paying players. I think it's sour grapes more than anything else.

On the other hand. How could he get the job if he just reported them? He was kind of caught if he wanted the job. He might have thought he could report after he got the job.

Nobody is going to come out of this looking good, I am afraid. Martin looks really bad because of the timing (and the fact that he probably knew about anything for awhile and didn't say anything until after he did not get the job), and ISU looks bad because from the sounds of things this booster toeing the line was not exactly a secret in the athletic office.

Just an unfortunate situation for Bill Evans to had to have walked into.
