Idaho State Bengals Scouting Report

Look guys, there have been some very concerning posts on our players, coaches and fan base. There have been direct references to our players with a poster saying "I'll be returning the favor" for an incident that happened 2 years ago by an 18 year old college football athlete who apologized afterward. In this day in age we don't know what that means by some anon poster and what his/her intentions are.

Straight to the point, my family and I love the environment of Washington/Griz. We're actually fans of the Griz, but reading through many of the threads and rhetoric posted, I'm honestly in fear for our safety. I have an 86 yr old grandpa and 83 yr old grandma coming to watch their great-grandson at the game as Bengal fans even though they are from East Montana. Should I be worried about physical violence and ill will toward them or our fans this weekend? We're just want to come watch and enjoy a great football game at one the the best stadiums in the country, not be involved in some conflict. Is this what Montana football is all about? Also Ursa Major seems like a very unhinged individual and I really hope their interaction is restricted to the internet and padded walls. Sorry for the wall of text, but I want to make sure my family and our team is safe at the game this weekend.

I LOLed. My prediction is Dean tries to pull a Louie-McGee and coughs up a fumble Hauck snags and takes it to the house. Our house.

No need to hang your head Pops. Not everyone is a Jerry......Jerry.....Jerry!!!!!

I hope that you realize this is eGriz and yes many of us are unhinged, but only on eGriz. Your family will be safe and welcomed. I have to believe that visiting fans are for the most part extremely well treated. There are some fans from the ag school to the east that aren't received as well, but they act like jerks. The postings by Ursa Major refer to the finger in the bowl incident, so you should not perceive it as a threat to your family. Then again, I have never met the man, but he doesn't usually come off this way.

Well let's review the last meeting, Tac5.

Before the game, Coach Phen Phen sarcastically said during a press conference:
First of all, we're playing the flagship team of the conference. They have the best facilities, they have the offensive genius as a head coach, they come out of the tunnel with all these neat flags, and we're just lucky to be on the field with them. We're just poor little Idaho State, and we don't have a big stadium. Our stadium's old. ... We'll give our best and hopefully keep it close.”

Being an outlaw thug, I generally don't bother to cite sources but here you go: https://www.idahostatejournal.com/members/isu-football-saturday-s-montana-matchup-goes-deep-for-phenicie/article_7a01115b-28b2-5c38-9d68-d41dd943a845.html

I attended the game in Pocatello and saw lots of late hits and cheap shots by Bengal players. And who could forget the special welcome to Montana fans from the Idaho State players.

Following the game, in an act of pure class, Coach Phenicie started yelling at our coach during the traditional postgame handshake.

At the post game press conference Phenicie said The Montana players played extremely dirty.
They (Montana) were being extremely dirty in the pile after the field goal. I asked him if it happened afterwards and he said, 'Yeah.' And their field goal team was, let's just say, there was stuff going on in there, and we know it

Here is the rebuttal by the Griz coach:

After decades of being a Griz fan I was always ambivalent about ISU. Until the classless shit displayed by the program in 2017.

Yes, you should be extremely fearful about Washington-Griz even though you are Griz fans and love the environment there. That makes perfect sense.
And If you bring your grandparents there they will definitely experience ill will and physical violence at one of the best stadiums in the country. That's what Griz football is all about.

You’ll be fine. Just make sure to bring cash in advance so you don’t have to ask fans where an ATM is after the game

I haven't followed this thread or been able to figure out Tac's issue, but Missoula and Griz stadium are one of the friendliness places on the planet for opposing fans. Other than some stuff on Griz-Cat and downtown after games, I have never seen any opposing fan being even slightly harassed. Opposing fans are almost always welcomed and treated well or very well in and around the stadium, and downtown, in my experience.

If you are talking about my post, I simply meant that I would flip him off. I dont see how you inferred any ill will or violent intent from that, but I am sorry. I hope you and your family have a great time in Missoula this weekend.

I find it hard to take Tac5's post seriously. I think we're being trolled. WA Griz is absolutely no different than any college football stadium on game day. 99.9%+ of all people will be great but there will always be some jack wagon who does something stupid or rude or mean or whatever -- mostly due to an excess of alcohol consumption. I have never witnessed nor heard from a direct witness of anything that was remotely dangerous happening. All there is are anecdotes of questionable origin mostly exaggerations and fabrications.

This was actually pretty dang funny. No, this wasn't a troll, just wanted to be sure because you never know what you're getting into. Anyway, thanks for the replies and I hope it's a great day of football on both sides of the ball.

As a Cat fan who has been to about 15 brawls in Missoula, my experience are that "fans" are much bigger tools on the message boards than the ones in person at the game. I think this board and BN are evidence of that. You get the biggest morons on these boards, and there are a LOT of them. At the games you'll get a few here and there who can't handle their liquor but that's it.

Matter of fact, the couple times I've had Griz fans crossing the line with me over the years, it has always been other Griz fans to call them out on their shit.

In a football sense there is no team I hate more than the Griz. But Missoula is a great place to take in a game. And if you're team beats them in their place...icing on the cake! ;)

...the griz fans are real swell...
...it's the griz football team...
...you need to worry about...

... ...
