I Need to be Slightly Less Positive

Yes it is only a game, but it can be coached much better than it has been. Still buying 4 season tickets every year. Still driving 6 hours during the day..still buying mo'burgers, still paying gas, still buying the kids footballs, still happy to have my UM diploma, still coming down in two weeks. Still reading this board for fun, but finally got miffed enough to say the coaches are not doing their homework.

bigkid, if you actually read my posts instead of getting so defensive, you'd know i don't think i'm a better fan than anyone else, i just choose to be a fan of the griz regardless of wins or losses. that's my choice just like it's yours to jump ship or call for delaney's head. i'm not tellin you what to do, i'm just posting what I choose to do.

We deserve everything we are getting. There is no doubt in my mind that losing is a side effect of our off the field troubles. Some of us have been saying for years that someday its gonna catch up with us while most of you down played it or dismissed it and threw the community under the bus as long as you got the WIN on game day. You reap what you sow.....permissive atmospheres among student athletes has brought down many programs why did you think UM would be different?

I can think of Baylor basketball for a few years, after the murders and the coach lied about it.

Pflugrad did not lie about anything...really, he was too honest about things. One guilty player and this is reaping what the program deserves? because of a horrible decision by one player? That NO ONE tried to cover up, by the way. Others were implicated in other things, which happens in every program in the country, but only one horrible crime has been proven to have been committed.

What happened under Hauck, happened under Hauck...and should not have had any bearing on whether Pflu was fired. I can see Hauck's regime's problems affecting O'Day's status, because of the cumulative affect, but not Pflugrad's.

And that is why the program is where it is at right now, and looks to be heading if a competent leader can not be found in a new york minute....

It took Oklahoma over a decade to even be anywhere near the top of their conference when they had their problems and that school had millions of dollars to do it. Montana is not Oklahoma, nor USC or Alabama...Winners attract other winners and UM has had the edge there for 15 years. To lose it is very painful. The Board of Regents erred with Engstrom I am afraid, and he seems to have an agenda that seems to discount success on the field.

Yep stubbins its the truth IMO. Years upon years of not really punishing players who got into trouble made the bad apples forgo weighing consequences. It use to be that a student athlete got arrested once every few years. Recently its been a few arrested every year with no real consequences from UM. Very permissive atmosphere, sort of like the parents who turn a blind eye to a trouble teen and then act shocked when they do something awful. I was just a matter of time till something big happened that would have this sort impact. Honestly I thought the home invasion thing was going to be the end of the UM crime wave but I was wrong.

Savage might be the most brilliant SOB that has ever posted on this site.

How can one person have that much "right" going on in a post? Its mesmerizing, accurate and to the point 100% correct.

Too many egrizzers have never dealt with any adversity (as a Griz fan...not talking about life in general here) as the Griz have won without question for years and years. They either weren't born yet or can't remember anything prior to the mid 90s.

Always thought one should be a fan when their team "wins" and "loses". Not just "wins". If all it takes is a few close losses for your fans to jump off the wagon then the Griz are better off without em.

Long way to go still this season.

I would take it a step further and say that you are not only right, you are right about life in general. It's easy to be a "fan" when you win all the time. What's hard is having class when the chips are down.

The fans do have the right to criticize the team's performance when need be, and let's not kid ourselves, there is a lot of blame to pass around this season.

Still, a terrible season or not, the Griz need their fans support and dedication all the same. If your a Griz fan only when their winning, your no better than the legions jumping on the Cat bandwagon.

Who said anything about leaving? I'm a lifelong Raiders fan. It's been a tough last decade. However I think you can bash your team for being stupid and still love them.

Perhaps, but it makes you a bad fan. I'd like to see you bash the players and coaches to their face, or their parents face, and see the reaction you'd get--especially in the off season. I recall a coach decking a bad fan who was in his face at a downtown watering hole after a loss. Maybe it was you.

Gawd STFU YOU STUPID POS.

Everyone knows our players and coaches DO NOT go downtown because that would violate team rules.

Coaches don't go downtown? That's pretty funny. It's clear that you don't go to games, or downtown after them, and don't even know who the coaches are.
