I know this may be blasphemous but…

I cannot disagree with anything you said. They did have a QB plan based on their system and is the reason why they are in the semi's. I think things are a bit trickier when taking offensive systems into account. The Cats' system could be run by a running back who throws a decent ball. A lot easier to find guys like that than more traditional QB's who have to make more than one read and throw 50% of offensive plays. Good on the Cats for adopting an offense tailored to the players on their roster...and one that substantially decreases the chances of the QB's making mistakes (turning the ball over). That type of risk mitigation, especially at the FCS level where we don't often see top talent, is a great way to set a team up for success.

I hear that caveat, but I think we can agree that the Griz should be expected to have a better backup plan than what they had in Kris Brown.

Completely agree. I played hockey through college and I played with a lot of players who had the size and practiced like animals...but for whatever reason, couldn't put it together in a game. I've never been to a Griz practice, but the coaching staff must have liked what they saw from Brown in camp, meetings, practice, weight room, etc enough to keep him as QB 2. The coaches obviously made an error in their evaluation.

He looks a lot more functional to me when I watched him play! And the stats support the eye test.

Britt: 30/44, 68%, 7.3 YPA, 323 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT, sacked twice, 39 rush attempts, 189 yards (4.8 YPC)

Brown: 37/66, 56%, 4.8 YPA, 319 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, sacked 5 times, 23 rush attempts, 17 yards (0.7 YPC)

I am not comparing Britt to Brown. I am talking about being able to a very good starting qb for the Grizz and winning big games. See 3d q against NDSU.

Britt may have been enough of an improvement over Brown to get the Griz over the hump @SAC and @WEB. That’s my point.

I doubt it. He has a long way to go.

The coaching staff at Montana has a long way to go. 6th place in the Big Sky. Embarrassed in Bozeman again!

Again, playoffs, playoff wins, and post-season ranking.

All fewer than that team to the east. Fewer BSC championships. Fewer playoff appearances. Fewer playoff wins. Lower preseason ranking.

have they renamed the 6th Place Center yet? Maybe the Bobby Hauck Memorial 6th Place Center?

Yep, and this post completely hammers home the most important point in this entire discussion. Vigen has implemented a winning "won't be beat" culture from the top down. Google it if you haven't heard it. Every coach and player buys into it from the top down, or they don't last. Vigen announced during his hiring presentation... "Make no mistake. Everything we do here is going to be working towards the goal of winning a national championship". Double reps, top notch strength, conditioning, and nutrition program, and player accountability where every player is going to give 100% for the team and their brothers. From there, coaches put players in a position to succeed, even if that requires changing the schemes, personnel, different recruiting, etc.

PR can drone on and on and on about how everything would have been if not for one player... but the reality is, that's an excuse. Vigen doesn't make excuses.

This excuse doesn’t hold water in year five of Bobby 2.0

Five years in and you’re STILL carrying Bobby’s water for this shit show. And blaming someone who hasn’t coached here since 20-fucking-17. Meanwhile Sac State, Idaho, MSU, Weber and Davis have all passed us. I guess we can thank god EWU quit on Best this season or we’d have finished 7th instead of 6th.

And you still haven’t answered my question: When is the ceremony for renaming the 6th Place Center?
