...there are definitely some developments with this team that have not broken our way:
--while he's evidently a skilled player, it's obvious now that vandejagt will not contribute as a true freshman;
--far from performing like a jaycee all-american and being the impact player that at least one pre-season pub predicted, gus chase is fighting for a scant few minutes each game;
--a year ago, andrew strait improved dramatically over his freshman year, but it does not appear that swift, sharp or any other players have stepped up like that this year;
--after averaging something like 16 points a game and being a force on the boards during our playoff run last year, jordan hasquet reverted last night to mid-season form last year (two points and no rebounds against utah valley state;)
--despite the addition of staudacher and the maturity of martin and dhlouy, it does not appear we've equalled the outside dimension that criswell and matthews gave us last year.

on the positive side, i like what i'm seeing of cameron rundles. it appears he's ready to step in as a true freshman and make a big contribution at maybe the most important position on the team.

Tink has to make the tough decisions, Chase, Rundles,Staudacher
Chavez need to play more; Hasquet, Martin less. It is early

If I were Tinks i'd take a gamble and just start Cam now. Martin is, at the absolute best, an average point guard. I say you thrust the frosh in now; at this point he is every bit as capable as martin. Give him the brady quinn treatment, imagine how good cam will be next year or even later this year if he gets some experience in. On top of that, he won't jack up trey's like martin does.

Also, Chase does need to get more minutes. He has the ability to contribute a great deal for this team and he can't do it in just six minutes.

I like the idea of Cam startin, but not yet. IT is way to early in the season to predict what a player is going to play like. Jordan has proven that he can be a big game player, and I think his problem last night was the same he had in high school, will to step up.

Martin is going to throw up threes whenever he gets the ball, but he has proven that he can make them, so Im not too worried.

Swift will be there along with Sharp. This team needs to find a leader and they will be right back where they were last year.

I believe this team is more talented than last years, and if can find an idenity as a team, then we should see good things from them. That is what coach K was able to do so well, Tinks has done it yet but I have confidence that it will happen.

Now lets go up to Laramie and get a win....

What took the team last year through the Big Sky tourney and a win over Nevada was Hasquet. i really thought he'd build off that. i thnk he still has that in him if not more so let's wait a few games to analyze that. Everytime down the floor, i want to see Hasquet and Strait getting touches and looks. The offense should be built around these two but yet Swift, Martin and Dloughy had 24 attempts to Hasquet/Strait's 16. Should be the other way around. I want Strait to have 15 attempts a game and Hasquet at least 10.

I still have complete faith in Martin and Ellis at PG, got to stick with the leadership there. If we have no faith in our leaders, we have no faith in our team and the season will be lost. We need to back these guys up!

I want Chavez playing more too. The man is a senior and has worked through his own adversity to get to this pont. He looked great last year, give him the opportunity, it's his last year and i know he can play ball, so let him.

If im not mistaken, but Hasquet was in foul trouble all night last night, and although he played 24 minutes, playing with fouls makes a person less aggressive. Strait will get his touches and if Hasquet can knock down some threes again this year, he will be fine along with the rest of the team.

Staudacher can shoot the lights out, wouldnt be surprised if he drops 20 a couple times this year because he is a pure shooter

Hasquet did not dominate the Nevada game-Strait was on fire-
I think he made his first 4 shots. The Griz need Jordan to rebound-
he would rather shoot 3 balls. There is no way he should be
starting-Tink needs to pull the trigger. someone must have bumped their head-jordan was very inconsistent last yr.

most def. also if martin does start, it should be at the 2. he's not a point guard. hasquet needs to improve his game however. the griz need to pull the team together if they want to do just as well as last year. staudacher should be playing more.

Team chemistry doesn't happen overnight. It takes time to find the right combinations, and the right combination in one game may not be right for the next. Let the coaches coach. We'll be fine.

Our basketball program must be getting better, everyone is bitching over one game. Ridiculous. Hasquet is easily one of our five best players and will prove that over the entire body of work that is a basketball season.
