I hate to say it but

I see little chance that the Griz don't make the playoffs if you win out.

The Griz will be a top 15 team, borderline top 10 if you win out.
The Griz will draw 20K plus which is a moneymaker for the NCAA in a first round game
The Griz will be 8-4 in a 24 team field

Tough to see the Griz not making it. Only scenario where its tough for the Griz to have a shot is if ISU, Cal Poly, and NAU all win out...even then theres a good chance....

NCAA wants an 8-4 Griz team in the field.

I agree with you on this. I just don't see how an 8-4 Montana team doesn't make the first round, especially if they're already ranked in the top 15 in a 24-team playoff format. But I hope we win out because having a chance to race in the playoffs is better than no chance at all. :twocents:

I don't think the Griz will make it. I don't think the Griz will have any problem with either Southern Utah or the Cats, but neither win will be a signature win. The Cats put up some impressive numbers when they went to California, but they're like the Griz in benefiting from an easy conference schedule until the end of the year. The Cats are a middle of the pack BSC team just like the Griz this year, and I don't think a Griz win over them, as the only win over a team with a winning record, will put the Griz over the hump in the eyes of the selection committee.
If, as I expect, the kitties beat ISU, they will at least retain their #12 ranking. If one or two teams ahead of them lose, they might nudge up a bit. Now, I do not see many chances for upsets among the teams ahead of them ... but "that's why you play the games." :D

So when (if) the Griz win the Brawl, they will have beat #12 ... which I think would count as a "signature win." Of course, that also supposes that the Griz don't overlook SUU. A loss there, and it doesn't matter what happens against MSU (except, obviously, for "the rivalry").

Last year, only 5 teams made the playoffs with 7 or less D1 wins before the selection. Three of those five were autobids.

Hey look!! I can copy/paste into multiple threads as well:

And none of those 3 teams had Montana's credentials, assuming the Griz win their next two.

Hey look, I am so caught up in myself, I can't read. The three teams were auto bids.

So Utah, would have basically the same credentials, one win over a winning D1 team, MSU
New Hampshire had wins over two D1 winning teams, Maine and Villanova

Sorry, nice try.

I think the only thing the Cats have going for them this weekend is it sounds like it will be nasty weather. Spud St being a dome team may sputter a bit in the climate, however I bet Kramer will have them ready to go. I do not envy the cats this weekend. With that said we better not overlook SUU. Nau just about overlooked the WEEBS a week ago.
It goes without saying we are in a must win the next two but maybe even more than that we need to win convincingly to help our cause. It could come down to the Brawl to see who the last team is that gets in, I don't see both Montana teams getting in unless someone gets screwed.

Big Sky had more than 3 teams last year.
That doesn't help us at all. If anything, the BSC's embarrassing showing (3 of the 4 teams got manhandled including the 4 seed) resulted in egg on the committee's face. So, I don't think the committee will not make that mistake again.

we need help to get in. cal poly, eastern and n.a.u. should win out and if so all three go in ahead of us. if they do we'd need i.s.u. to lose to the cats. if they beat the cats then they just need a win over weebs to be ahead of us. i highly doubt the big sky gets five teams in.

Watching the Cats and Bengals of late. I hope you are right about the weather. The Cats offense has been sputtering, and the Bengals have played well. Going to be a tough game for the Cats. With NAU not playing either Montana team, and ISU not playing UM it sure made for an interesting end of the season. Your last statement is good.

We need to root for our next head coach to slam the filthy Bobcats into submission. Go Big Human!
