I don't sense the excitement

I can't speak for everyone but, given the chilly forecast, I've decided to leave my snakes at home. Tough to get too fired up without a backpack full of rally snakes.

You're still OK. They don't check for snakes in the playoffs.

I for one can't wait for this game. I've been giddy with excitement for the better part of a week now. Also, I don't have the doom and gloom outlook of the possibility of facing NDSU. I think one reason people may not appear to be as excited is the fact the Griz barring a miracle, will most likely not have another home playoff game this year as opposed to other years. If the Griz win this weekend, and certainly if they win next weekend, the excitement level in this town will be exponentially higher and noticeable.

Had lunch at Paradise Falls with some clients, we talked about the upcoming game. Walking out bumped into a lender I know, we talked about it, also bumped into a fellow egrizzer sitting at another table and we also chatted about it. In my office that's mostly what the football fans are talking about.

I sense it's on a lot of people's minds, but they don't know what to expect in terms of the outcome of the game, so they chat more about the weather and how cold it's going to be. Back in 2011 and especially 2009 the buzz was about looking forward to the great game, seeing the stud players on the other teams, and who we'd get the next round.

I honestly think another thing is that a lot of fans are also readily aware that if the Griz win their playoff run will most likely come to a halt the next week at NDSU. Can't help but wonder if the thought that the chance for a national title is slim to none so the excitement just isn't there as much. Just a hunch. Not how I feel, but I bet some are feeling that way.

100% agree. No one really has any idea based on the performance of the team this year what to really expect. But sometimes surprises can be good so here's to hoping we keep up the momentum and special teams finds Jesus.

It's not that I'm worried about security, it's the over-all well being of my snakes that concerns me. With that said, I do have an insulated wicker basket for my two cobras. Over the next few days I'll take them for some hikes around my place just to gauge how they react to the cold temps.

aw hell with it. Cold or not, me and my snakes will be there. Let's do this thing!

Does anyone else sense that our fan base is bored? I don't really feel like the town is wired like it usually is, especially after missing the playoffs last year.

I agree, it feels like we are going to play in a pro-am and we all know who is going to win before we tee off. :o

We are so fukking excited for game. We have 8 tickets and just bought good gloves and hats. It is a playoff game, how can you not be excited? Go Griz!!! We are playing roosters from a warm climate and low elevation. Taking hot chocolate and schnapps.

That's the spirit! I'm bringing a backpack of snakes to Schooner at Sunset. If they don't put the game on, I'll give 'em a little peek inside the old Jansport.

I'm excited for GRIZ playoff football again. However, I admit it is toned down a bit. I honestly don't know what to expect of this team in the playoffs. In Hauck's time here, and Pflu's 2011 team, I was confident those teams were Top 5 like teams, and true title contenders. I am stoked and impressed with the last 10 quarters of football the GRIZ played.

Those 10 quarters were against an average South Dakota team, a horrible Weber State, and an above average MSU. I am encouraged by the defensive adjustments, better tackling, consistent run defense, and improved pass defense. The pass defense is making opposing offenses execute better, and not letting offenses dink and dunk all damn game. I expect and hope that kind of defense carries over in the playoffs.

Offensively, It has been nice seeing a more open playbook. My concern is this staff may revert to the run at all costs mentality. Also teams are taking away EH the deep threat. I would love to see him catch more short and medium passes. We need to figure out ways how to get the ball in Henderson's and Van's possession more often. Not sure if the staff is versatile enough to find ways to do that. Marc Mariani adjusted to defenses nicely, and in turn he beat teams many ways. Henderson needs to do that to continue increasing his pro stock.

I'm just a more quiet semi optimistic fan this season, and have difficulty grasping how good team this is.

Pony, Haha. Thanks but I will be there. I've missed one home playoff game since 1993. And that was Wofford. I suspect if I would have been there, Carp would have made the kick :thumb:

From my view, NW corner, that kick was good.

From my vantage point in the NEZ, sec 132, it missed left.

Can I bring snakes in my carry on bag? I think they will do better there than in the checked bag, warmer and not so loud in the carry on.

Every Griz game is a gift, I'm going to enjoy this one.

Go Griz!

I think that's probably fine. With regard air travel and bringing questionable items on board, it's always best to just do it and ask forgiveness later.

I am really excited for this game. However, figuring out how to buy it on ESPN Gameplan and fighting ESPN to show the game is getting old.

Snakes on a Plane! Now that would be exciting.

An older classic, but it still gets me pumped up

I am not from Missoula and only come to Griz games, but I would imagine a liberal town and the liberals in it do not get too excited about the Griz and the playoffs, alot of the support comes from out of town, and those are the people that are really fired up. Missoula probably only gets fired up for like gay marches and Obama and Tester visits. :twocents:

Is this why every business in town has a Griz poster, schedule, banner or window painting?

Take your politics to the correct board.

I was not talking about the businesses, and sorry got a little carried away with my Missoula bashing. But it is true that alot of out of towners come and support the Griz.

Of course it is. Look at my location, and I have season tickets.

But frankly, that's true of nearly any university. Places like Manhattan, KS; Lincoln, NE; College Station, PA; Pullman, WA; Corvallis, OR are not filling their 50,000+ seat stadiums only with locals.
