Husky Fans losing it!

All of them had let-downs

I post this mostly for the fans that look at the remaining schedule and expect nothing but smooth sailing from here and will panic at first sign of adversity.

-2007 App State finished 13-2 (losing to #13 Wofford and unranked Georgia Southern) and won the 2007 Div. I National Championship (FCS). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Appalachian_State_Mountaineers_football_team
One thing to note about this team (the only one to win the chipper), they got all of their games in the playoffs at home, despite being unseeded because both #2 and #3 seeds lost in the first round on their side of the bracket (DAMN YOU WOFFORD!), and needed a miracle fumble at the end of their first round game against JMU in order to hang on.

Man, 2007 was a crazy season.

That is pretty crazy to think the two-time defending national champs with a ranked FBS win and only 2 defeats didn't get a seed!

Well, it was tough because three teams (UNI, McNeese State and Montana) went undefeated.

The crazier thing to me is that an undefeated Montana team didn't get the #1 seed, but in hindsight, our schedule was the softest it's maybe ever been that year.

ah, 2007. app state won the championship, while michigan finished 9 - 4, with two losses to start the season, then eight wins, two losses, and a bowl win (in 2008). app state had a game against eastern washington that was pretty entertaining, and armanti edwards as a quarterback was something special to see. he threw the ball a lot like brian ah yat, but was way more athletic, and could beat teams with his running, as well as his passing.

sorry to digress, but those app state teams were talented, and fun to watch. in 2007, they had what it takes to beat highly ranked div 1-a teams, with the ranking based on guesses from last season, experience, etc... like this current griz team. it will be interesting to see what happens. i'd take two losses and a championship.

Mods, it might be time to give this guy a little timeout until he leans to keep his political bullshit in the right board.
My bad. Could have been all the BLM ads I had to endure watching the game. Tell me that's not political BS. I won't be leaning. I resist commenting on your lame attempts at humor that have nothing to do with football.

Wasn't quite sure where to post this. Many discussions of the big Griz win manage to work in the App State upset of Michigan back in the day. Does anyone else see a teensy bit of irony/humor/etc. in the fact that Michigan is Udub's next opponent? Yes, it was a long time ago but fans, at least, have long memories.

another quote from another Washington board or article about the game. Can't remember where, but...

"can we hire Hauck?"

It's funny, but if you live in Seattle, I assure you it's also kind of irritating.
Today, while going around per usual with my Griz hat on, I've heard everything from a "Good job, Griz" as I walked to my neighborhood coffee shop to total disbelief from homers who clearly know nothing about Div 1 football.
Nice job by a couple UW fans. I bought one of them coffee.
While grocery shopping, I got a few "Wow, that was some horrible game last night."
While at a mixer in a local park a couple of guys were told, "He's a Griz," pointing me out and two of them were just "That was the worst loss in our team's history, I think." And I said, "You didn't lose. You got beat." They didn't like that, but I wouldn't give much quarter. "We really sucked, we should never lose to Montana." When quizzed on what they knew about Montana football, they made the usual comments about "high school" and "sheep" and whatnot. Which I took as evidence of their ignorance. And I followed up with "Well, that "high school" team's defense was good last night, and it's too bad you can't give them credit for out-playing the Huskies. Because that is exactly what happened. UW didn't lose, they got beat and there's a difference. Maybe you'll bounce back and beat Michigan."
Honestly, the ignorance chaps my arse.
It's the Left Coast; expectations should not be high.

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. I meet some truly amazing people out here, rural and urban, all the time. Point was, some of the Husky fans are idiots without the grace to admit they got beat. Instead they feel the need to denigrate the Montana program they know nothing about.

I do. I met a Michigan grad a a middle school parent mixer mentioned above. He expressed that there's "not that much difference between the top tier FCS teams and some of the power five schools." I dunno if that was a subtle dig at all the Husky parents in the conversation, but he gave App State, Montana and EWU their due and asked, "What's happened to Delaware? They used to be quite good." I appreciated his comments to be sure.

100%!

...if it's any consolation...
...speaking for myself and griz nation...
...we are all huge wasington fans this weekend...

... ...

To say Jimmy Lake is in the hot seat is huge understatement. If the Dawgs get blown out of the Big House, I seriously think he may get the USC-Lane Kiffin treatment. Hell, he may not make it to the Ann Arbor Airport.
