So, will he keep his job at year's end?

Today's loss had to hurt. Up big with less than 10:00, and then get blown out. I said earlier that he'd need probably 11 or 12 BSC wins to keep his job. That might be very tough now. Saturday's game against UNC is huge. After that, they've got 3 straight road games, all of which you'd have to think would be potential losses (ISU -- best chance for a W -- Weber, and USU). They then have 3 at home to finish, but one of those is Montana (along with NAU and Sac).

So to get to 11, they must beat UNC Saturday, then likely beat ISU on the road and then either beat USU on the road, or sweep their final 3 at home, including a win over the Griz.

Since I like Brad, I'd love to see him stay. (as long as the path to the new contract doesn't include a win over UM!).

I agree EG, I would like to see Huse stay. It has been a tumultuous time in Bozeman with all the player turn over. Not sure if John Wooden himself could have steered that ship into a winner.

I would hope that Waded Cruzado and the MSU AD would look at more than W's for Brad's future. Dont get me wrong, W's are important but so are other things. What is the team's graduation rate, their GPA, what is his relationship with the admin, boosters, alum, high school coaches, is he running a clean program? Should one tough loss at home tip the scales? Is he getting butts in the bleachers? I agree with Ursa,it would take more than Wooden. I like Brad and hope he gets a legit chance, right up to the point where he gets W's against us!

In Huse's and the Bobcats' defense (believe me, I rarely go out of my way to "defend" the Cats), MSU's frontcourt has been severely hampered by the concussion to junior post Paul Egwuonwu and then the family crisis of forward Flavien Davis (who also didn't play Thursday). That doesn't completely explain why the Cats lost a mid-second half lead... but the Cats just aren't as tough in the blocks when Egwounwu isn't on the floor.

The Cats had 17 turnovers.

sCats lose at home again. This their mid-season meltdown? Seems like it may be the case.

2 starting front court players have been out and no depth behind behind them.....but yeah, typical february.

True. I had forgotten that they were missing a few guys.

The question though is how much if at all Huse is responsible for the yearly player turnover MSU has had to deal with. There are always rumors floating around about players not liking him and that being the reason for some of the departures, but who knows how much truth there is to those. The facts are that Huse has chosen or been forced to run his program in exactly the WRONG way to build a consistent winner, bringing in JC player after JC player resulting in absolutely no continuity from year to year. Meanwhile in the offices on the opposite side of the building, Coach Ash and the football team are doing things in exactly the opposite way - see this year's recruiting class of 20 players, only two of which are transfers and both of those have three years of eligibility remaining. Ultimately I suspect that Huse's future will come down to what happens this offseason. MSU has some talented young players - if they are suiting up in colors other than blue & gold next season, it is hard to see how anyone can justify keeping Huse on board for another year of 6 or 7 new JC players and another February meltdown.

Anyway, the main reason I came over here in the first place was to congratulate UM on the consecutive games record. Very very impressive and well deserved - looking forward to the UM/Weber rematch on Thursday.

Great questions MSU1. Kind of a chicken or the egg dilemma. It has been a heck of a run by UM and I too look forward to the Weber game.

I have been hearing from bobcat boosters that Huse had to finish in the top 3 or they wouldn't even consider bringing him back. My guess is he will get a 1 year deal at best, and let go at worst.
