Hula Bowl - O’Connell and Ford

I typed, Ford should be used to it no safety help, but I erased it. I wanted to keep my post positive.

Safety help depends on the defense, what the defensive call was on the play, and whether there is supposed to be safety help. The Griz defense was often designed for the safety/Hauck to fill for the run, and not be in coverage.

The way Ford looked on the replay seemed like he was expecting help deep. I have no idea whether he was supposed to have help deep, but it seemed like he expected it.

Congrats to O'Connell and Ford. I wasn't able to watch but it sounds like they both did pretty well. Also, the first 2-3 pages of this thread were useless and could just be deleted. The football forum is getting unreadable, who has time to sort through all the repetitive arguments about Hauck to read anything of substance? I don't.

Hula Bowl went woke.

No worries, as long as people like PR remind us that women are nothing but objects to look at, the world will still be normal.

I have always liked pretty women and have a beautiful wife. I won my law firm's first-ever partner of the year for mentoring female associates and was given 2 free first class roundtrip airline tickets anywhere in the world. We went to the Philipines and Hong Kong. My 2 daughters both have grad degrees, are very independent, and have very good jobs in business/law.

Just met a assistant coach for the Detroit Lions yesterday at my favorite cigar bar, who lives in Arizona. We discussed Ford, and he was aware of him from recruiting boards that the Lions keep. He wasn't sure, but thought that they had Ford rated as a 6th-7th round pick, and thought that safety may be his best NFL position. He asked me if Ford had ever played on the special teams unit, because they look for those qualities in lower round picks. Just thought the board might be interested in this info from an NFL coach.

I’ve thought safety for him as well, given his lack of real top-end speed…just not sure he’s got the size. Doesn’t mean he couldn’t get there, but I think that’s what would prevent him from being an earlier pick at corner.

Isn't he at least 6', 200? If so, he should have the size. Not sure he has the tackling skills to be a safety. He was mostly a cover guy with us, and I don't think initiating contact was his favorite thing.

Agreed he was mostly a cover guy, but he didn’t seem to shy away from contact.

I could see him starting out as being an almost ideal nickel guy. Fast enough and smart enough for combo coverages and big enough and physical enough to hang with slots and smaller "Grossman" style TE's.
