How will it play out?

2013 will be a good year 8-4, 9-3 with a playoff appearance to ensure that delaney will be there through 2014.
2014 will not be a good year, probably miss the playoffs. even if not, delaney will step down with a nice retirement package secured.

j.j. will not go to court. if he plays anywhere it will be here. i would assume that r.e. has assured him he can come back if found not guilty. no other scenario makes sense.

the n.c.a.a. investigation is lingering on because they've been unable to secure interviews with people that are keys to their investigation. if those people don't interview within one year (usually) the n.c.a.a. will stop its investigation and make a ruling based on what it has and the lack of cooperation.

I think Get G is Jim Rome.

Check that~ I think Get G is the FCS version of Jim Rome.

So short, arrogant, out of touch with reality, and forced to vicariously live out his middle school glory days through discussing sports ...??

when's the last time a coach in the montana university system was let go after leading his team to the playoffs. assuming he wants to stay, which fiscally he should, and he has the team in the playoffs, which our defense should single-handedly be able to accomplish on its own, then i don't see him not being back in 2014. if we make the playoffs, or better, next year almost everyone on this board will forgive and forget 2012. remember pflugrad? after 2010 a ton of people wanted him gone. didn't know what he was doing. couldn't beat m.s.u. a year later he was a genius.

Let's see here, it happened to that last coach that um had (Pflu) and it also happened to the last coach that MSU had (Kramer). So it doesn't really look like getting to the playoffs is a sure thing to have a job the following year. I think that both cases show that other factors are more important to the powers that be than getting to the playoffs.

well you have a point in a literal sense, but i know that you don't think that krames and pflu were just let go. would there not be a difference between delaney not having his contract renewed and pflu/krames not having there's renewed?

so lets get real, and back on point, for a second. has a m.u.s. coach that just led his team to the playoffs ever been just let go? no one has said delaney is leaving after 2013. delaney hasn't. r.e. hasn't. the only people saying that are egrizzers. if he has us in the playoffs in 2013 and he wants to come back in 2014, he'll be back. $$$$$

There is a better chance of the world ending in 2 days (according to the end of the Mayan calendar) than Delaney back as the head coach in 2014.

The point I am trying to make is that given the current situation, I doubt that playoffs or not is really a major factor on if Delaney is even offered another year, I think that the overall direction of the culture of the program will be a bigger factor.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on publicity not affecting NCAA sanctions. Why do you think judges rule on changes of venue in criminal cases? Don't you think the NCAA reads newspapers? Why do celebs hire PR pros? Bad fruit falls from the same tree as the good fruit.....and it doesn't fall very far!!!

Oh....as far as the dropdown QB goes.....I was just repeating what some Griz fans have speculated....us Cat guys want to see a lot more of Smithwickjinglehimerhahn Wish we had him....love that guy....he really rocks!!!!! ;)
And how many years of probation did the cats get for all the bad publicity they had?? How many years of playoff in eligibility did they get for bad publicity ? Keep on dreaming !!

Different world Bub......that was before Penn St, Ohio State, SoCal ;) MSU had plenty of bad publicity, I'll grant you that....but the offenders were not current members of the Football Team and they didn't have University officials escorting ACTIVE players to attorneys.....calling rape suspects "high moral fiber types" and suspending star players for one quarter for getting tased at a party....kind of a culture of looking the other way that Engstrom and the BOR has and will reverse....much to some of the old guards' dismay!!!

Too early to tell. Let me see how 2013 plays out. Maybe you should accept the fact that he's our coach next year and get behind him. He deserves his 2nd season.

If Old Mick is annointed as the HC for 2014 they can start turning Wa-Griz into an open air prison like they do in Third World countries...we won't need more than Loyola's Rollins Field when we drop to D-1111...(does it go that low)

There is a better-than-good chance MD will be the HC in 2014. So i guess we'll see who's right when it comes to season ticket sales this summer.

couldn't tell ya, but he is the no. 2 ranked sports talk host in america. are you trying to become troll-guy? like, softball-guy and corvette-guy? you have a lot of competition from 2506.

you know troll-guy. we aaaallllll know troll-guy. troll-guy. yeah, you know him. he's the guy that jumps on his rivals message board two tenths of a second after they get beat or two-tenths of a second after his team wins. troll-guy. class act. probably saved his high school j.v. wrestling shoes and busts them out when his team needs a big win. shouts at his fellow posters on bobcatnation.com "big game fellas!" "we gotta come out and punch 'em in the mouth!" "lets do this!" "c'mon 2506! c'mon l.t.c.f! papa_g what's up dog! let's rock this board!" then when they get beat he doesn't post until friday. troll-guy. bides his time after a loss by taking it on his wife and kids if he has any. if not he gets on his mom's case, but has to make sure dad isn't around. troll-guy. yeah, you know him. we aaaallllll know troll-guy.

ha. you will. this must be your first rodeo. you'll be one of the first ones in line when we win 4-5 in a row. right there with almost everyone else. of course you'll be posting under a new user name. probably adding in some b.s. about how you know one of his kids and he's a great guy and you just knew he'd get things turned around once the dust settled. you just knew it! it was rosey that was screwing mick up all along.
