How to make the conference better?

I miss the days when the trolls avoided the BB board.

I miss the days when posters didn't make a big deal about typos and mixing up ND and SD, and didn't spend most of their posting time just picking at other posters (and mucking up threads).

Nice try. You didn't mix them up. You posted the same thing 3 different occasions.

It's okay. You have an agenda. Everyone knows it.

And if you miss those days, perhaps you should stop picking at other posters and mucking up threads. The entire board would appreciate it.

Yes, I mixed up ND and SD at least twice. Just a mistake. Made zero difference to the analysis. Engstrom pushed for the Dakota schools to be invited. After approval, he called the SD president, where he used to work. Whether he called the SD or ND president makes zero difference in the analysis. The point is the same. There's no agenda whatsoever in these posts by me.

You are the one picking. A huge number of your posts have no substance and you start picking at someone, including me. You are the one who starts the picking most of the time. You are frequently mucking up the board. You have been called on this before.

Take a look at this thread. Look at the number of substantive posts with good information that I posted, and then compare that to your posts.

Top 8 teams--winner gets to host or capable of hosting, if not capable next seed down.
Three day affair not 9 days

Make winning worth it.

If the men's tournament were only 3 days, I would have attended the conference tournament this season. :thumb:

Back to the original thread... One thing that would make the conference better would be to take the Big Sky Conference ref pool out to an abandoned gym on the bad part of town and have them beaten like baby seals... UM games (not saying it went any particular way) experienced well over 50 fouls on numerous occasions. That ruins the game, period. And there is no consistency whatsoever. All the touch fouls and ticky tack is laughable when compared to better conferences. Its like small time high school reffing and does the BSC no favors in preparing for the Dance. Our dumbass conference commissioner should have cracked down long ago.

oh, and what Fanofzoo said, too.

At the winners of the conference I hope.
Thinking more of that---see you there.

Another thing that would help - if the BSC actually posted the correct winner of each tourney game on their web site.

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU.......these directional schools don't mean much when you think of the bigger picture.....the State of Dakota. Didn't we have enough of these directional schools with NAU, EWU, UNC and SUU?

I must be the ignorant one....what is his agenda? I mean I know AG's agenda, to be a fake character on a bulletin board that simply posts for the sake of drama. I'm quite certain PR is the same in person as he is here, so I don't see no agenda.

Not my business but I like keeping track of UM due to ties I have with the University and Missoula. Had to comment, are you stating that you think UND, USD, NDSU and SDSU are "directional" schools? All 4 are piers with UM and MSU. If you think they are directional you may want to do some research.

As for improving your conference, especially tournament. The BSC leadership should have chosen Billings over Reno. The Summit moved to Sioux Falls, SD and now draws 9-10K for the men and 7-8K for the women. Why? Of course you have the SDSU, USD, NDSU, Omaha draw (all within 4 hours) but you also have a smaller community who have embraced the tournament and the atmosphere.

Jacks, Mouse is saying precisely the opposite, that those schools would be MUCH better in the bsc than our current lot of compass schools.

No kind of being sarcastic as usual. I understand these are peers of UM and MSU and "the" universities for TWO states. We have guys like PR on here though who spout off about knowing most everything about everything. Then confuse ND and SD but it's no big deal and no one should worry about such trivial things. An odd question I know, but based on their names and a quick glance at a map, how hard is it to not confuse North Dakota and South Dakota?

As for the conference tournament, I like your idea of Billings over Reno and watched some of the Summit game last night to see a fine crowd and good game that showed off that conference pretty well. Also watched WCC game from Vegas where Gonzaga again won with pretty strong crowd (didn't appear as good as the Summit crowd though). BSC in Reno seems a very odd decision. Will see if locals and a few of each school's diehards like PR start to show up in Reno for the semifinals.

I should have read back further.

I was pretty shocked they chose Reno. Billings would have allowed your three biggest fan bases to travel, UM, MSU, Weber and would have provided a decent atmosphere for the average fan who may not have ties to the Big Sky. Again, Sioux Falls in March there isn't much to do. Even in years when NDSU or SDSU weren't top seeds the championship would average over 6,000 per game. Pretty sure Billings could easily bring in 5,000 on average with UM and Weber playing it out as the two top seeds.

Good luck, will be cheering for UM to make the tournament.

And there are posters like Mouse who know nothing and provide nothing of substance, but like to spout off anyway, pick at other posters, and muck up the board. Guess that's all he can do, having been a bench warmer all his life.
