I actually proposed playing 2 OOC games, then 8 conference games (6 against teams in your division and 2 against teams from the other division) and leaving the last weekend open. The winners from the two divisions would then play for the championship that last weekend. The remaining six teams from one division would the play a game against the remaining six teams from the other division in a bracket buster type of game for their 3rd OOC game. They could rotate which division host the final game so teams would know ahead of time if they are traveling or hosting the last game.Grizbeer said:2506 I believe you are having a hard time understanding the proposal, there is no conflict with the playoffs under this proposal, and it does not reduce the number of non-conference games to be played.
1) SWAC teams can compete in the NCAA tournament. However the 2 teams that compete in the SWAC championship game cannot because they play their championship game the same weekend as the tournament, and it is an additional game eon the schedule. Any other SWAC team is eligible to participate in the playoffs if they are strong enough to qualify for an at large. There is no rule that if you have a Conference championship game you cannot play in the NCAA tournament.
2) Currently BSC teams are scheduled to play 8 conference games in a a season. Under the proposal GrizMusician and SloStang are offering, BSC teams will still play 7 BSC games in a season. And the season will still end the weekend before the playoffs start. The only difference is teams will not know who they will play until the last weekend of the season, and the last game will determine the conference autobid. there is no conflict with the playoffs.
3) teams will still only be playing 7 BSC games (6 against teams in their division, 1 championship weekend game against the other division), so they will still have 4 non conference games to schedule.
Hope this clarifies things for you.

I got an idea, lets argue about a method of making all grass blue and the sky green, it would make as much sense a this thread.

That is what you are proposing. I just threw out the idea if they added a 14th team (Idaho), they could split into two divisions. Each team would schedule 2 OOC games and 8 conference games (6 in your division and 2 against the teams from the other division) leaving the last week of the season open. The two division winners would play the last week of the season for the championship and the six remaining teams in each division could play the one of the other teams from the other division in a bracket buster type of game for their third OOC game. They could alternate each year which division will host so each team knows if he last game will be a home or an away game when they are making the schedule. Is it ideal? No. Am I proposing it? No. Just throwing it out their as an idea.GrizMusician said:kemajic said:The problem is there are 12 opponents and only 8 conf. games. No... we are proposing 7 division conference games, one conference championship, & all other games can be scheduled as the school pleases.

You're the one who can't wrap your head around a concept that actually makes a lot of sense.

talk about cutting you out of games in your prime recruiting grounds
I don’t think the conference championship idea would fly (unknown travel plans in mid-late November will be costly), but I like the idea of increasing the amount of “rivals” from 2 to 4. I’d prefer if our other 2 were PSU and NAU/SUU to keep it as close to “regional” as one could get in the new BSC footprint.SloStang said:If they stay at 13 teams I think they should assign each team four regional rivals they play each year. That would leave eight other teams and they could play each of those teams every other year. It would help with teavel and in building rivalries.
Here is how it could look:
UM: PSU, EWU, MSU, UND
MSU: EWU, UM, UND, UNC
UND: UM, MSU, UNC, ISU
ISU: UND, UNC, WSU, SUU
WSU: UNC, ISU, SUU, NAU
SUU: ISU, WSU, NAU, CP
NAU: WSU, SUU, CP, UCD
CP: SUU, NAU, UCD, Sac St
UCD: NAU, CP, Sac St, PSU
Sac St: CP, UCD, PSU, EWU
PSU: UCD, Sac St, EWU, UM
EWU: Sac St, PSU, UM, MSU
