Are you fucking high? Have you ever talked to a kid who had the honor to carry it around Wagriz after a win? It’s big and heavy and needs to be carried by 5-6 lineman. Maybe you prefer the ridiculous little stein for the Idaho game. I think you are pretty much alone on this one stump. The cool part for me is the patina on the Griz side of the divide is worn off from all the Griz players who have touched it over the years during the streak. A mark of true dominance that will never be replicated by the fellas on the east side of the divide. Sorry stump you are out to lunch on this one.

That trophy is unique and uniquely Montana. How many other rivalry trophies have you seen that need to be carried around by 5 lineman and have a distinct geographic feature of the state. That trophy is as good as it gets. Even more so if you ever get the chance to see it up close. The detail is awesome.

I like that it’s not some dinky trophy you can toss around from player to player. It’s a team game, takes a team to carry it.

Question: Is the trophy displayed differently at the two schools? As in, do they have it with THEIR side of the divide facing out? Or is there a “front” and “back” to the trophy? Sadly, when I walked through the Champions Center the morning before the game, it obviously wasn’t on display, given that we hadn’t won it back yet, so I didn’t get to see it up close.

When I have seen it in Missoula it fits in a niche with the west side of the mountain facing out so when you walk by it guys have patted or touched the same spot on the mountain so many hundreds of thousand of times the patina has worn off on that spot. Which is cool as hell because the cats would have to start using sand paper on their side to catch up. The thing is getting a little nicked up too which it should— it’s game worn. Have you ever been in the old Rockne gymnasium at Notre dame? They have a bust of Knute on the central stair well that goes up to the gym, it’s been rubbed or touched so many times over 80 some years it’s totally polished of the original bronze patina. When I first noticed the spot on the grizzly side I was like damn that is cool as hell the fellas have left a permanent mark on the trophy. .

Not as much as it looks. I have actually gave it a push it sat in a hallway all year on a push cart lol. I am actually surprised it was never stolen from the Adams center,.
