Best thread goin'
The obvious answer is 274%. We are twice as good without Traitorak holding us back (+200%), and about three-quarters better (+74%) now that we have someone who actually understands schemes, game planning, adjustments, etc.
The funny thing is, Ace and Gary will someday either say they agreed all along, or that some stupid stats prove otherwise, even though those stats are exactly contrary to what is seen on the field by people who actually understand the game and have no bias.
Perfect examples: I think it was Gary who tried to prove Simis was the best QB option, and he even seemed to suggest MickyD was a better coach than Stitt.

Agreed, Ace always thinks hes a top when hes really a power bottom. Gary is crazy but its fun to watch!

With far less experienced players coming back, it is hard to make an absolute judgement. And with a new DC and other brand new assistant coaches begining it adds to the mystery. So one must judge the past with the new and guess like crazy.
Forgetting all the given/known data and being a biased Griz fan I will state this: I think we will see a better defensive plan overall and each game will show fans some slick adjustments. It might take a few games for the new coaching staff and the players to meld. Toward the latter stages of the season our defense will be playing very well and you can beat hell out of me if I am wrong on that!
The following season will be the time we show great team defensive strength and we will become a force to reckon with so don't give up on our defense if this up coming seasons defense isn't playing lights out!
Look for old Alpha to show up at the home games with a new cute "defensive" girl and watch him grin the entire game!

Will we be better? I dont know and neither do any of you. No offense but none knows. I am more excited about the defense though as the coaches represent a true change and I think to some capable people with new ideas (at least new to us). This is sort of like at the beginning of the past season when my brother in law asked me about our chances against NDSU and I told him that i didnt know if Stitt would be good or not but i at least have some hope that we could win and although Delaney was a good coach for the situatin he was thrust into I told my brother in law i would have had no hope that we would win if he was coaching that game. I guess in both cases the unknown felt more promising than the prior knowns we had.

Oh, dude. You just wait and see how many of these eGriz experts will tell you just exactly how good the defense will be next year. Good or bad, they know. They know.

Ya baby, don't make me whip out some charts and graphs.
That would show you. Ya, it would. So don't make me! :ugeek:

Soooo. You have a head coach that is 100% all about the offense and constantly puts the defense in shitty situations (and innovation, can't forget about the innovation), you lose a bunch of big time starters on defense, you lose your defensive coordinator (and arguably the most popular coach on the team, at least to the people that actually play on the team), you have new untested coaches (at this level) that will be running the defense and calling plays.....and you think that your defense will improve? You guys are cute. Carry on.

Your input is super important to this forum, thank you!

Perhaps you should reread the poll results. That might give you a better idea of what the clear majority 'thinks'. :)

Sooo, your program fucking sucks, and always will. That's it.

The Grizzly defense will be near the top of the Big Sky next season even with the losses. I don't think the D will be as good but it will still be better than most teams in the Big Sky. I went with "Bobcat's suck" because that was the most accurate selection in the poll. The Cat's won't win 5 games next season.

I agree with that. We should start another poll on which is more likely: (1) The Cats win a national championship; or (2) The Cat FB program gets dropped.

The results would be interesting.

Cats will finish in the bottom half of the conference for the next 2-3 years. Count on it.

Bobcats suck is the obvious answer here, because it's a trick question.

There is no defense in the Big Sky, so whether any given team is better or worse at it is irrelevant.

Good deflect Alpha.

Dante Olson and Jerrin Williams are stars, just waiting until Sept to show it to Griz Nation.

I'll be here all week...if you want to know any other Griz facts.

Yeah, the Grizzlies have a lot of young talent on defense. I would put Josh Buss, Jesse Sims, Holden Ryan, Manu Rasmussen, Josh Sandry, and Alex Thomas on this list. I like the transfers coming in and the young talent coming up. The more I look at it the better I feel about the Grizzly defense next season.
