For the time being, we will be fortunate to remain in the Big Sky and FCS.

This is one of the dumbest statements ever on eGriz.
I hope you remember your statement, ding bat, when the bean counters start looking at the savings by cutting the football program.

Does your caregiver know that you are on the computer?

Now you are discriminating against senior citizens who are helpless.

If you were helpless, your posts wouldn't exist, and you wouldn't look like a dumbass.

Oh, now another wise guy that thinks UM is in a strong position to talk about moving up.

Actually, we were talking about your post about UM dropping the program..nothing about them moving up.

I didn’t say anything about UM dropping the program. I do think it is possible that they could try to cut costs (scholarships).
Back in the dark ages, before you were on the scene, UM had a President by the name of Newburn who made cuts in the athletic program and UM moved down.

And if we move up to the MWC or something similar, what does that gain us over what we have now except for a chance to play in the Famous Potato Bowl or some similar quality venue? Big fat hairy deal! No thanks!

Hmmmm...lemme think:

Programs in our conference who are peer universities.

Not having to play in a cow pasture.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Televised games on an actual channel not filmed by the junior high photography club.

The ability to determine an actual conference champion and not count/not count games against a conference/not-conference member.

Not to mention a legitimate conference for our basketball teams and olympic sports. There's more to an athletic program than football.

Peer universities? If the NCAA enforced its own rules, a lot of those universities would be forced to move to FCS also. They don't meet the attendance requirements in football and some don't meet the facilities requirements.

As far as other athletic programs, we are already competing with them on the same level. I do not claim to be successfully competing, however.

Remember, no matter what conference you're in, you still have to get other teams to come to your house. There are other games besides conference to be played. Where's that money coming from?

What do Marshall, Buffalo, Liberty, Idaho, ........................have to show for their move?

Lots of losses...

What does Boise, App State, UMass and a host of others that have moved up have to show for theirs?

I wonder if you ever see those teams on Eleven Sports, in a game played on a cow pasture with an announced crowd of 789 filmed by the junior high chess club.

Look, you can talk all you want about teams not being successful in moving up. The bottom line is that outside of Idaho -- who has a massive facilities problem that Montana does not -- financially the move has been a win for all every program who has made the FBS move. And their fans get to watch real football in a real conference with real opponents.

UMass has won 16 games in 7 years. Played its home games in Boston, a couple hours away, for years. Has 2 wins this year. Over Duquense and Charlotte. UMass football has sucked since it moved up.

Attendance of 8700 and 10,100 for their 2 homes games this season. Against the teams mentioned above. Exciting home games, ya think. Even at Boston College, only 30,000 came.

No thanks.

Surprise, surprise. Another b*tchfest On egriz about the Big Sky.

But you bitched about my conference lineup too.

Great Northern -West
Idaho
Montana
MT State
Weber St
Denver
AirForce (no fb as that would go American)

East
UND
NDSU
SDSU
USD
Omaha
W Illinois

Isn’t it surprising that the Griz and the kitties both played W I’ll, as they trying to get used to them?

That conference would have higher academics and financials and aspiration than the Big Sky has never seen since Nevada and Boise St left. The only garbage school is W Illinois, as the state of Illinois has basically stopped funding higher education to prop up the state employee and teachers unions to keep them stable for their outrageous pensions.

surprise, surprise...the same post from UND fan that doesn't really fix what ails the Griz.

Marshall has plenty to show relative to their tenure in FCS - as do BSU, Nevada, Appie St., Troy, GA Southern, Liberty.....ask them if they prefer to return to FCS. After dominating the MAC (68-21), Marshall is 47-23 in the last 6 years in Conf. USA. They have numerous FBS conf championships which fades their '96 FCS NC away. They have substantially grown their facilities and capabilities since leaving FCS and produce numerous NFL players. Then there's Old Dominion which just embarrassed VA Tech. Do you think their fan base would prefer to see them play VMI?

Not in FBS, they wouldn't kill for that attendance.

If UM won 16 games in 7 years, UM's attendance would be less than UMass'.

Do you believe that would happen?

See, this is what I don’t understand: “the we’re just Montana and we’ll fail at the FBS level” thinking. Seriously, if I had to live my personal or professional life with that attitude I’d slit my wrists.

Grow some balls, people. We’re MONTANA. Give us 22 more scholarships and you believe we couldn’t compete with Wyoming, Air Force, Colorado State, etc? And even if we do lose a little more often, it’s to Colorado State not freakin noco!!

We were at the highest level of college football for years. We were members of the Pacific Coast and Skyline Conference.
I share your desire to move up but the will or finances doesn’t exist.
