How is Tinkle a D-1 asst coach with no degree?

I want all of you griz fans to explain to me how one of your beloved asst coaches does not have a degree? I always thought that was a requirement to get a D-1 job? Maybe in griz land it works different. That would never happen in BOZEMAN! PLEASE EXPLAIN SOMEONE
