How Good is Trey Lance?

I guess I just don’t think about Trey Lance as much as you do. I don’t follow Bizon football as closely as you do, but I’ve read stuff about locking onto a receiver, less than stellar footwork in the pocket, and him benefitting from passing against a stacked box against 1-on-1 coverage most of the game since he only throws like 18 times per game (because the Bizon play such boring football).

The level of competition in his conference just isn’t where it needs to be for him to have proven himself as a top round draft pick.

Same things were said about Wentz....who went on to make an all pro team, set numerous NFL records etc.

Trey has inconsistent footwork at times. He has locked onto receiver at times. Overall though....phenomenal footwork. Great decision making.

Hell Andrew Luck was arguably the greatest QB prospect ever and he got critiqued for struggling at times. It takes QB’s years to develop

The lock onto receivers comment is wrong. For a freshman, I’ve really never seen a better QB. He’s above where Wentz ever was in college....and Wentz went number 2

Trey’s an above average passer, but his athletic ability puts him as a first round pick. That’s equally as important in today’s NFL.

I was thinking 4th, but I’m starting to see the kid as a decent 3rd rounder. He will suit up somewhere. Put it this way: I predict that he won’t be selling life insurance and/or Chryslers in St. Paul in 2023.
