How Does SDSU Recruit?

Washington Grizzly Stadium makes a lot of Griz fans unrealistic about facilities and attendance in the FCS generally.

The Jacks' stadium has an officially capacity over 19K and they average about 15K fans. Those are great numbers from a national perspective.

I also don't think there's a ton of recruiting competition for good FCS programs in/near the midwest.

You either misunderstood or I explained poorly. At SDSU, at least a couple years ago, a kid on a full football scholarship received a $2000 check per semester. The full ride covered all the expenses you mentioned, tuition, fees, books, lodging, etc. So the FCOA is definitely money beyond what the scholarships covers.

I fully understand. That's why I said "...beyond the tuition, fees, books..." The initial amount in the article SDSU is offering is $5000.00. I assume it's much larger now. Still pretty small stipend compared to the Power 5 schools.

I guess it was the "doesn't seem like much now beyond" part of the statement. Those kids think of it differently.

Wait until they sign their first NFL contract. All those hours in the weight room, working with their strength and conditioning coach, all the camps, etc. will be one hell of a revelation for a 20-25 year old kid.

If the Griz cannot compete with top FCS teams for cost of attendance and NIL deals - then how could they possibly move up. I don’t think recruiting is the big issue the Grizzlies are facing. It is player development and Bobby’s philosophy to mainly play upperclassmen. If he is going to get the Griz back in contention (they aren’t even close to the top four right now) then he needs to make changes. I see nothing that indicates he will do that.

Kids want to play at places that give them an opportunity to make it to the NFL. That use to be Montana but no longer.
Well that’s funny cause it looks like we’re putting 2 guys in the NFL this year so try again!

Who?

Ford will get a shot. Doubt anybody makes an opening day 53.

How about O’Connell who just earlier this week got invited to the Hula Bowl? One of the bigger all star games out there. I disagree about Ford, I would be shocked if he didn’t make an opening day 53. He was great this year, not sure how you think he wouldn’t make it.

I haven't looked at their roster, but I kind of wondered if they were trying to play in the same sandboxes as NDSU.

O’Connell is a fantastic college player who doesn’t have an NFL position.

Ford, again, really good player. He’s an older prospect (24 I think), not overly athletic for his position, and coming from a small level. I think his best shot is playing safety, tbh.

I think he could play corner in the US game, maybe nickel. I don't think he's big enough for safety. He has the sort of "island" skills that could fit our game in Canada. Hicks-Onu didn't get more than a sniff, but it is always right man right time. I thought Hicks-Onu and Ford were fantastic but, who knows.

High school stadium? Do some homework. Dana Dykhouse Stadium is six years old, seats 19,300 and its lockers and training are one of the best in the FCS. https://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2017-07-23/fcs-football-10-best-stadiums-visit-according-fans

...remember Bobby doesn't like Super Star recruits, would Dave Dickerson have played on
Hauck's teams?....heard this from former players..so the question is why over-achiever would
come to play?....they are looking for a place to show case their talent for future NFL...
this doesn't fit Hauck's philosophy ...

Wasn't Dickenson a walk on? Mariani was as well and he flourished under Hauck.
