Espn had Pitt as an 88% favorite. As they should have been. They win, in case you haven’t heard, NINTYFUCKINGSIX PERCENT of their home noncon games. I don’t care if you’re playing Butte High. If the team you beat wins 96 percent of those games, it’s a huuuuuuuge win. Couple that with the fact that it’s an ACC school?
Gawd, you can get carried away.

Yeah, uhhh, can you explain exactly how I got carried away by the facts i posted?
"NINTYFUCKINGSIX PERCENT"; "huuuuuuuge" for starters. Then there's "the fact that it’s an ACC school" for the umpteenth time. Settle down before you strip a gear.

This thread should have been a solemn "Montana won a basketball game versus the University of Pittsburgh tonight. Wait! Hold on. I don't mean to say anything congratulatory because we all know Pitt is expected to have a down year, but I just wanted to say "yay" for the BB team. I honestly hope that if a regime change is in order at UM, the new one will provide you with the access and perceived influence to which you are entitled. In the meantime, I humbly submit that it was a good thing that the BB team won tonight. Thank you, and God bless."

That's the way you make an enthusiastic thread on eGriz right now. Follow the rules, or face the wrath.

We should have beat them by more. We were/are absolutely the better team. Missed free throws, etc. Akoh hasn't settled in yet. This team is only going to get better. Should be a fun ride this basketball season.

May be true in hindsight, but ZERO people expected a win there....there’s a reason twitter is blowing up about the Griz win right now...Pitt fans are ready to commit hari Kari.

Strange because I fully expected them to have a very good chance to win there tonight. I also give them an 80% chance of beating Penn State, but they have Carr who is going to be a handful. I also read on that some in the Panther community were expecting a challenge before the game even started, because they believe this is going to be a bad year for Pitt.

They are a young and inexperienced team. They will get better as the season progresses. Nonetheless, a nice W for the GRIZ. Even nicer, considering we have lost those kind of games down the stretch the last few seasons. :thumb:

Gawd KEM it must suck to have no magic in your life. If you can't say anything positive about the Griz, once in a while let others bask in something good without trying your best to bring everybody down.

80% @ Penn State? I'll take that even though I gamble about as much as you drink. Hope you're right, bro!

OK, I was wrong. There was ONE person who expected a win there.

Dude, you're doing the exact same shit you bitch at others for on the football threads.

People on this board crack me up. This is a win on the road at an ACC team who wins NINETY SIX PERCENT of its home nonconf games. The AFuckingCC.

The ACC in BB is, top to bottom, far superior than the SEC is in football. Let’s assume the GRIZ football team went into, say Ol Miss, and won. They’re probably comparable to Pitt in the ACC (although of course they don’t win anywhere NEAR 96% of their nonconf games). This board would come unglued (well, except for a few negative nellies who get their jollies knocking all things GRIZ).

Nice win, but Pitt was only a slight favorite. Projections I saw was a 10-12 win season this year for them. But from a team perspective, it gives the confidence, and they can now keep it rolling. We need to win 4-5 of these this year.

We WON. AGAINST A POWER 5 TEAM. End of discussion.

Some people would bitch if they were hung with a new rope.
The new rope is so scratchy! Can't we get hung with a new rope that isn't scratchy?!

So in perspective...the LAST place picked ACC team was still #80. They will win a game or 2 against a team they shouldn't during league, maybe even finish higher than last. Whether they are down or not, absolutely moronic to say this isn't a good/big win. It's a confidence booster as well, now knowing they can go somewhere and win against a power 5 school. Penn State will be a better team, so they will need to play a great game to win there. Will be a fun group to watch come together. Let's hope for another couple upsets and a trip to the dance!

Its a shocker how our fanbase thinks our bball team is bad etc. I remember when I was in school and other students would tell me how the BBALL team sucks and i'd say, sorry they play Duke UCLA Washington etc and can't win games. Our football team doesn't have the unwinnable battle that our BBALL team has.

Couldn't agree more. These wins are awesome. Wouldn't it be great if the FB team was competing at a level where they could play teams like this?

Enlighten me....what exactly is that? I expect our football team to win each week also. This was a nice win....thats a positive thing. If you don't think there were others that thought we had a chance to win this game then you simply are not paying attention. I bet every kid on the Griz team felt they had a chance to win, especially after the game got going. So quit throwing the team under the bus, by saying NO ONE believed they had a chance to win, because many did - and they did. And it was a nice win, but if this is a top 10 Power 5 school, then yes I agree with you most would doubt that we could win.

I wouldn't mind having more FBS games but I like our team competing in FCS against schools more our size and demographic. I think we'd have an unwinnable battle fighting in FBS against schools that are in much greater populated areas, with more funding, and with tradition of success at the FBS level. Look at even the Boise's of the world, even with pretty much everything bouncing their way for a few years they've regressed back to the mean of where everyone their size generally competes. I would rather have a fun regular season with a few crazy playoff experiences at home against FCS schools winning a few national championships than 6-6 and the New Mexico Bowl. To take that a step further we haven't exactly dominated FCS the last few years to the point that moving up should be considered. We cannot even win our own conference anymore why should we be concerned with the mtn west?

Nice reverse psychology...you put down their win, their opponent, the quality of the win, etc., etc. and yet I’M the one throwing them under the bus.

And if you can’t see it, I can’t help you. Just weird to see a poster so sugary on the football side, then come basketball to be so negative about a great win.
