Hope Cat Recruits at Game had fun!

"quote" see above

At last a cat fan sees the light. Yes, all cat fans are classless. The classlessness is traced back to a missing gene that all cat fans seem to have. (or in this case don't have)

an example of classlessness

Their famous chant, "F*** the Griz" came through loud and clear on TV. That is the class they are known for - it is sure to impress the parents of their recruits. I have never heard such a chant from any other team. I guess they might as well be unique in something! :lame:

Well '62 Griz, Wyoming students have been chanting F*** You! BYU! whenever BYU comes to town for decades.

I would like to think even msu is above what they do at Wyoming. I know Um and msu are concerned enough about it they are trying to do something about it.

I might have missed it, but where was all of the public outcry about vularity relating to the various pictures that have been displayed on this very site including people flipping off the camera, etc.? Are we now so petty that it is the duty of some Cat fan to start going on about how classless "Griz fans" are because not only were people flipping off a camera, but they showed it on egriz ... and no Griz fans stopped them!

I'm sure most people feel this way as well, but the whole "classy v. classless" eternal debate is so petty and so tired that I have a hard time understanding why anybody is still talking about it. We all know the right answer, and it puts a halo on the head of neither school. And, frankly, halos are overrated ... especially for rabid sports fans.

Well I oughta flip you off for that BAC! Just kidding. The only thing I really have an issue with is when I saw msu student athletes wearing those shirts and mugging for tv cameras. (I didn't go this year simply because it just isn't that much fun. I am sure some of you feel the same about coming to Missoula). I believe that anyone who is representing the university of either school, especially a student athlete should know better.
That is conduct that can be and should be controlled. The other stuff is pretty much uncontrollable. :twocents:

But again, I have never heard complaints about the pictures that I have seen scolled on this very site. Why the complaints about t shirt on MSU students, but nothing about the content on this site?

BTW, I have no problems at all with anything I have ever seen on this site ... I am just curious as to the double standard. If people sincerely thought that the "classy" thing was a legit issue, I would have assumed that there would be threads condemning any and all vulgar (words and actions) commited by Griz fans and documented in photos. Absent that, it appears to just be another smack thread.

Actually, most of the arguments are humorous in themselves. Everybody realizes that their own fanbase does everything they accuse the other of, so now we hear a strange mantra of "your fanbase is marginally worse than our fansbase, therefore we hold you in contempt."

In other words, there is a whole lot of hair splitting and doubletalk going on to allow people to rationalize to themselves that they have a leg to stand on ... before they factor in the concept of selective memories and personal biases that unquestionably impact their perception of what they see and hear.

BAC,

I am not sure, but I think you missed my point. I am NOT talking about msu or UM students. I am talking about members of the msu Women's Basketball Team. Do you think they should not be held to a higher standard of conduct when representing msu and being given grants in aid to do so?

When/where/what did the shirts say? I missed that part of the discussion. Were they uniform shirts, or just shirts that somebody put on as a student?

They were shirts that the players wore that said "Eat Shit Griz", they were yellowish in color which I asssume was meant to represent bobcat gold. They were on TV during the men's game against the cats. If you don't belive me I am sure someone has a tape of the game. As I mentioned several times, and have said in every post when I mentioned it, it did not occur this year to my knowledge. I am simply asking the question with regard to whether a student athlete should be held to a higher standard. I have nothing agsint them yelling at games, even yelling at a particular player such as chanting his name when they are shooting a foul shot or whatever. I just thought that went a bit too far.

If they are doing it as a team while they are representing themselves as a team, then I definitely think it would be inappropriate on several levels. If they just happened to buy a shirt that many of the other students were wearing and were in the crowd at a game, I have no problem with it at all ... Cat or Griz. They are held to a higher standard in many ways ... but I just don't consider the wearing of the crude customized t shirts while at a game as being all that offensive in the first place. Some of them are even kind of funny.

Well I don't know if the entire team was there since I don't know all of them, but I do know that a majority of them were and they were together. I think I have as good a sense of humor as anyone and yes, some of that stuff is kind of funny. Maybe Potera condoned it, my hunch is that it would not be tolerated now. Anyway, enough on that. I appreciate your thoughts, we kinda agree on most of it I think, not that it matters all that much. :thumb:

THESE CAT FANS ARE AMAZING... :crybaby:

There are major differences in these arguments! First, while I will admit that there are probably some Griz fans that yell an obscene remark at cat fans... these are isolated incidents. And truthfully, I don't recall having ever heard such comments, but I'll trust that it has occurred. This is entirely different from the:

organized chanting that continually goes on in bozoland. Do you not see the difference? The "Eat Sh*t Grizzlies, Go Cats Go" chant is done by the majority of cat fans of all ages. This is widely accepted down in Bozeman. Also, the number of obsence buttons that adults were wearing was amazing. Their hostility and hatred runs deep.

The worst organizaned chanting that I recall from Griz fans is "Poooooor Bobcats". Do you not see the difference?

And during my last two visits to Bozeman for the Griz/cat game I routinely encountered words yelled at me that I haven't heard in many, many years: Cocks*cker, Motherf*cker... just to name a few.

Yes, cat fans are classy. :loser:

like i said, this will never end, so i'll leave it. everyone in bozeman is a classless piece of crap. the organized yelling at our stadium is not our student section, but everyone from the ages of 4 to 80. we can never compete with the class that is always displayed in missoula. and i realize that despite what is being said, the classless factor means nothing because there is not more than one person in unison. again, i apologize, and i'm very sorry for the misunderstanding. please try to forgive us classless idiots here in bozeman, as we dont know any better. clearly you have proof that these horrible chants were coming from mysely, and my children where i thought it was mainly college kids in their section. i thought i was totally against some of the chants that i heard, but that may have been because i had no idea i was taking part in them. i hope that someday, maybe not soon, but someday you can forgive us enough to try to take in another event in the unclassy litterbox that we call home.

:agree2: :agree2: :agree2: :agree2: :agree2: :agree2:

I've been posting for years about the problem in Bozeman.
I think it's funny that there is a thread on BN that asks for examples of pro cat cheers and no one could come up with one.

I'll give ya one...lose the eat $hit Griz and say Beat the Griz...go cats go.

If "Beat the Grizzlies, go Cats go," is a "pro cat" cheer, then so is "Eat S--t Grizzlies, go Cats go." Both cheers have the same number of words devoted to cheering on the Cats and wishing bad upon the Griz. One is just has a lot better flow to it (as the word "the" flattens the whole cheer).

I guess your pro Cat cheer (whatever that means) creation ability is just as bad as everyone else's -- you've got nothin' either.

I wonder what their families thought of all the "FTG" shirts and the "Eat S*** Grizzlies" chant.

And vice versa... I wonder what the Griz recruits (if any were there) thought about the vocal few idiot Griz fans who heckled the entire halftime presentation... how soon they forget football season!

grizbacker.... I'm not sure I get the point of your post, but are you suggesting there's a way to tell the difference between a JC recruit and a kid from Montana? Is that possibly an ethnic reference that I'm not getting? Clue us all in as to how you tell the difference?
