Hope Cat Recruits at Game had fun!

I live over here in BoobKitty land, and what amazes me is how Bobcat Fans think they are so classy and Griz fans aren't, and yet every time I go to any Bobcat home event, there is always tons of chants with profanity laced wording. Personally, I believe if you want to yell chants about the other team, go ahead. But there is never any place for profanity, especially the F-word. What a great example for all the little kids at the game. Not saying there aren't Griz fans who do it also, especially students, just seems to me it is a lot more prevelant in the Bobcat fans. :twocents:

I think it was last year, could have been the year before, the Men were playing in Bozeman and the Lady? kittens, or whatever they call themselves, were wearing those F the Griz shirts, mugging for the TV every chance they got. If I was the AD, I would have suspended every one of them. Talk about NO CLASS!

There were a lot of people here yelling some not-so-great stuff at the Grizzlies. I was right in the middle of the student section, in the front row (I guess I got a few TV shots, I was wearing a white Bobcat shirt yesterday) and I heard a lot of chants that were rude, especially the DUI chant when Chavez came in. I decided to take a new approach this year and focus on cheering for the Bobcats instead of cheering against the Grizzlies. So not all of us are rude about it. Just a good number. It happens with student sections.

Everybody just shut up about this. It's a student section, I believe they are allowed to be as raucus as they want to be. Ask any Griz player if they expected to be treated as royalty at Bozeman. They will all answer the same way; they expect to hear explicit chants. Believe me, Chavez was expecting to hear something about his DUI, if anything he would be surprised if he didn't hear anything. You think Kobe Bryant doesn't think he would hear anything about his rape charges when he plays the Nuggets in Denver twice a year? And thats not even a rivalry. Montana-Montana State is one of the twenty most heated rivalrys in college sports. Everything is thrown out when these two teams meet and nothing is held back. Everybody complaining about the chants and shirts should be up for Mike and Mike's Just Shut Up award. And if I had my way, you'd all win and have rocks thrown at you in public. And this is coming from someone who's room is painted maroon and silver. So you know where my bias lays.

Insider, do NOT tell me to shutup! If you like the shouted obscenities that's just fine, but you are definitely in the minority. Just don't expect most GRIZ fans to follow you to the gutter. A classy program should act with class.

And then there were those cute blue sweatshirts worn by several Cat fans of all ages proclaiming: "You can't spell dUMb without UM."

UM has produced 28 Rhodes Scholars, the most of any university west of the Mississippi except for Stanford. I think MSU has produced maybe four, if you can make heads or tails out of the MSU Internet sources on the subject.

Insider,

YOu can kiss my ass! Only my mother can tell me to shut up! If you think it is cool for a Student Athlete of the opposing team to where that type if shirt while they represent msu and are on scholarship, you are out of your freaking mind!

The problem with today's "smack" is that it has no imagination. Back in the day the chants were more about game related timing with cadence and volume and less about vulgarity...the hecklers were funny...made the crowd and sometimes the refs giggle....they didn't resort to dropping F bombs and looking tough. Too bad really...those were fun games...I enjoy them less now...although it eases the pain when you win by 16.

I agree with that. I remember back in the day when the Zoo was alive and well at UM. They had a great time when the Idaho cheerleaders would yell Idaho, the Zoo would respond with, you da ho. About the worst thing you ever heard was Idaho sucks. Today it is anything goes I guess.

January 1984.

Nevada-Reno's Curtis High, little brother of NBA guard Johnny High, is leading the Big Sky Conference in scoring. He gets arrested for hitting his girlfriend a few days before a trip to Dahlberg Arena. When he sets foot on court, most of the students in the Zoo are wearing fake black eyes, bandages on their noses, etc.

Instead of bouncing an inflatable beachball around the Zoo section, the students are bouncing an inflatable blow-up doll purchased from a local sex shop. The doll, too, has black eyes and a bandaged nose.

The pep band plays a contemporary chart topper -- Michael Jackson's "Beat It" from the new Thriller album. Students sing along. But, instead of singing the lyrics "beat it," the Zoo chorus sings, "beat her."

Mr. High scored three points.

IDAHO IDAHO SUCK SUCK SUCK

In my opinion, chants aren't to bad because most of the time if you don't know the words anyway, you don't understand them. (Little kids might not understand some of the stuff) I don't really like the profanity, but will admit to participating in many Bull S*&t chants. Don't partake in the other profanity chants, but then again, they are rare. I can't speak for football (My parents have great seats in the North Endzone and I wan't about to give those up for the student section) but most of the taunting I here in the basketball student section is profanity free. I think that the players behavior off the court is fair game, thus Chavez and the DUI chant. The players should know that they are in the public eye and be responsible, and I would argue that most players that get in trouble off the court have participated in some sort of heckling that they themselves will receive. I say, as long as it not by players, let em say what they want. They should limit themselves, but there is nothing we can do about it. And for what it is worth, I was at the game and I didn't really notice any of the chants at all. I was across from the student section in the corner on the main floor. The TV may have picked most of it up because they were broadcasting right in front of them.

I remember that! Do you remember when Monte got booted for walking out on the court dressed as a blind referree? He had that walking stick out there poking it on the court, the fans were going crazy and the look on the refs face was ....priceless!

I dont really have a spot on this whole topic, personally since im still young, I dont mind a vulgar chant or two, but from what i am hearing took place in that student section might of been out of line. Its not such a big deal if one or two chants that are profane go on during a game. I dont really like chants with the F bomb in it either but that is the way it goes sometime and people are going to have to live with it. Cats can chant all they want but after it is all said and done 80-64 is the only chant I give a fuck about.....

guys, i am just amazed at what i'm reading. do you all really believe that this type of stuff doesn't happen in your arena or football field? i just dont see how anyone can HONESTLY say that they haven't heard the same crap coming from the mouths of griz fans. i couldn't believe the post that said that he knows this stuff happens in missoula, just not nearly as much as in bozeman! are you for real? i am blown away that you guys are able to just turn your back on what you dont want to see. this is going to be an argument that never, ever ends. because every game that takes place in bozeman, griz will always say how unclassy we are. and every game in missoula, cats fans will keep hearing the same crap. only this year i am going to make it a point to log every "unclassy" thing i hear. it should be easy because just last year i was a "bobcat faggot", my girlfriend was a "slut", my "pussies were gonna get killed", and a few comments about "seeing me after the game!" very classy. oh, but it probably doesn't count right? i like how the point was brought up about how we cat fans dont say eat shit wildcats, or eagles, or bengals....go cats go! well, because we dont have the rivalry with them. do you guys bring in as many fans for games against these teams as you do against us? do any of you spend any time on their message boards like you do ours. after every griz win, do you go to all of their sights and let them know how well you played? or do you reserve that for bobcatnation? is there a pooooooooooooor wildcats cheer after a big win? i doubt it. our rivalry should be treated as such. it's different. but you have absolutly got to be kidding me if you think that this only goes on in bozeman. and if it were true, than stop whining because you wont have to play here again, and your virgin ears will remain pure the rest of the way as you'll only play very classy teams from hear on out! :lame: :beer2:

I agree 100% I dont think Griz fans are saying that it never happens at Adams center or Wash/Griz but they are pointing out the fact that it is more harsh in bozeman than Missoula (I guess) But the fact remains that the Griz beat the Cats more often than not (not smack just logic) so they probably have a reason to be more harsh.

that's a good point swill. you guys have had our number for a long time, and you acknowledge that often. according to some, we only care about the cat griz game, so maybe we are meaner! but if the "breathe if you hate the griz" shirts are unclassy, then what the hell are the griz shirts that read, "whose your daddy?" with the griz pounding the cat in the ass? i happen to think they are both funny. if "fuck the griz" is so unclassy, what is the girl that wrote go griz on her front, and fuck unc on her back? again, i thought it was pretty funny, and she was alittle hot! shes on your guys most viewed page of pics! can we just agree that there is a tiny chance that this might go on not only in our stadiums, but others as well?

I know that it goes on in both stadiums and i have no problem with saying that. It adds fuel to the fire and makes beats the other team that much more enjoyable on the road with everybody chanting and wearing their gear and all of that, but I dont really care because at the end of the day all that matters is wins and losses.

THESE CAT FANS ARE AMAZING... :crybaby:

There are major differences in these arguments! First, while I will admit that there are probably some Griz fans that yell an obscene remark at cat fans... these are isolated incidents. And truthfully, I don't recall having ever heard such comments, but I'll trust that it has occurred. This is entirely different from the:

organized chanting that continually goes on in bozoland. Do you not see the difference? The "Eat Sh*t Grizzlies, Go Cats Go" chant is done by the majority of cat fans of all ages. This is widely accepted down in Bozeman. Also, the number of obsence buttons that adults were wearing was amazing. Their hostility and hatred runs deep.

The worst organizaned chanting that I recall from Griz fans is "Poooooor Bobcats". Do you not see the difference?

And during my last two visits to Bozeman for the Griz/cat game I routinely encountered words yelled at me that I haven't heard in many, many years: Cocks*cker, Motherf*cker... just to name a few.

Yes, cat fans are classy. :loser:

like i said, this will never end, so i'll leave it. everyone in bozeman is a classless piece of crap. the organized yelling at our stadium is not our student section, but everyone from the ages of 4 to 80. we can never compete with the class that is always displayed in missoula. and i realize that despite what is being said, the classless factor means nothing because there is not more than one person in unison. again, i apologize, and i'm very sorry for the misunderstanding. please try to forgive us classless idiots here in bozeman, as we dont know any better. clearly you have proof that these horrible chants were coming from mysely, and my children where i thought it was mainly college kids in their section. i thought i was totally against some of the chants that i heard, but that may have been because i had no idea i was taking part in them. i hope that someday, maybe not soon, but someday you can forgive us enough to try to take in another event in the unclassy litterbox that we call home.

"quote" see above

At last a cat fan sees the light. Yes, all cat fans are classless. The classlessness is traced back to a missing gene that all cat fans seem to have. (or in this case don't have)
