I realize not all were brought in by Stitt, or quit etc.....BUT not counting the ones who are supposed to come this year he has had 13 QB'S on roster over two seasons. As for transfers leaving...Prater left, Trenton left Kaegi is leaving....others who were nonbtransfers have left, switched position, a couple graduated etc. 13 QB'S have been here and so now it will be 15 minimum looking at current verbals in just 3 seasons were here to play one position.

If you were a future QB would you want to join the circus.

Why wouldn't you? Even an average QB has been able to throw for a ton of yards and numerous touchdowns.

Yeah but who gets the nod with a thousand people to choose from.

First, there are not a thousand choices and B. that is up to the Coach to decide. He has tried to make due with what he had the last 2 season at QB, now we find out what he has brought to the table.

He's getting recruits who have been in similar offenses. They will be getting on the field in greater numbers next year and then we will know. A QB who has never had the obligation or responsibility, let alone the freedom, in their high school and first 3 years of college systems to call the play at the line is going to struggle, especially when faced with better defenses.

Everybody around me in the NEZ noticed Gus usually checked into quick outside passes when faced with threatened blitzes. D coordinators picked up this tendency right away. They could control the play call by influencing Gus's check downs because he went to the same plays. We need a QB who has been coached and has played through these tendencies. Hopefully Jensen is such a player.

Gus was a statue that was afraid to get hit. Nothing but check-down city as fast as he could.

Agreed....

No pass protection makes it difficult to play QB in any system. I hope Stitt is doing considers some tight ends so the QB has more than .785 seconds to get the pass off. Part of his evaluation of everything.
Tight ends won't make a difference. More linemen in the box means more defenders in the box. The fact of the matter is that our line has been below average and our QB hasn't been able to buy time with his feet.

That all is being corrected via recruiting. We are getting better linemen and QBs with some mobility.
And definitely agreed....looking forward to the next couple years, honestly. Young LB's, young WR's, young RB's and young QB all growing up in the system. :thumb: :thumb:

It's not a complicated system. It's the amount of freedom the QB has to make reads that's the problem.

And other players need to sync up their routes to what the QB reads.

Yes. Requires multiple people to be on the same page. On top of executing.

So if we can just clean up our mental telepathy we're set?

I get the sarcasm, but it's not unreasonable to expect D1 athletes to be able to read schemes. However, giving them full reins was probably the problem and I think Stitt has realized he needs to scale back the freedom.

Well sort of really, about hundreds not thousands.

Gawd, really? A fifth string QB transfers and you guys are claiming the staff can't develope QBs? Give it a two year break.

Two years with 13 possible QB'S on rosters and not one was able to consistently run the offense.

2016 - Gus, Chalich, Phillips, Jensen, Bea, Kaegi (6)
2015 - Prater, Simis (2)

Help me out, which other 5 am I missing?

It doesn't matter. The answer to the question is, "How many are scholarship athletes recruited by Stitt"? I assure you, the answer is less than 13.

I think most of them knew it was slim chances to play and wanted a chance. How many of these kids had scholarships?
