holiday inn or double tree

He probably chose DoubleTree because it's on the river, close to WGS, & to fish, he walks a few yards from his room to do his fly-casting, from pictures he's seen of the place. I can't read his mind, of course, but that's my read on his decision. And, of course, he can speak for himself, if he wants to. I don't blame him for his choice.

Ya, I know. The Doubletree is nice. Just giving him a little crap.

I would stay at the Double Tree. The last time I stayed at the Holiday Inn the place seemed a little worn out.
You can get downtown pretty fast from the Double Tree. On gameday its a better place to be.

All hotels are gross, no matter the price. So stay at the one with the best bar, so you can properly numb your senses. DoubleTree.

confirmed doubletree. arriving wed at noon...chill on thurs...and fishing on friday...game on sat...liver transplant on sunday...gonna be a great trip!

It was like 10-1 Holiday inn and you chose the Doubletree? You're dead to me.

He made the right call.

A slightly longer walk from the downtown bars, but still within stumbling distance.
Pay back is that it is right across the bridge from the game.

PBR, Welcome to you and all your App State friends!
Enjoy your visit. Sorry about your pending loss.
:ugeek:

We have four more coming from NC and staying at the Campus Inn. Any reviews on that place? Is it it close to the bars? :D

Campus Inn is ok. Run of the mill, nothing great but not a dive either. It will do just fine and it's close to the DoubleTree where you are.

The Press Box bar is very close to both motels, basically across the street from the Campus Inn. It's the big Griz pre and post game bar. Decent food the gameday breakfast buffet is pretty good, as are the bloody marys. Both places are 6 to 8 blocks from the downtown bars (Reds, Stocks, Mo Club) and an easy 10 minute walk (or stumble lol) from your motel.

You guys are gonna have a ball!!!!

ok guys dont try to over analyze the situation...we chose hotel with good bar and proximity to stadium..fishing not a determinate...as we have great fishing on the holston and ive lived in alaska...so, that being said....it's gonna be a hum dinger of a week and a great game!!!! 3 weeks! :thumb:

Even App St posters know who to trust for advice. Ha-ha. That's a joke. Get it.

The only negative of the Doubletree is that it's about 4 blocks farther from the downtown bars and restaurants than the Holiday Inn. But from the Doubletree deck, you can look across the river at the stadium from the deck at the bar/restaurant, or from the restaurant.

I'm surprised that you could get a room at the Doubletree. Good job. Either place would have been great.

If you fish the Blackfoot, make sure you are far enough above Johnsrud State Park to avoid the drunk floaters who scare off the fish.

Would that be on the North Fork of the Blackfoot?

Having stayed at both since last summer I gotta say Holiday Inn at the Park. It's on the Clark Fork, has unsmokable grass unlike the Doubletree, which is beginning to look awfully tired based on the room I had last June. Also their DT HVAC system is set for either heat or AC for the whole complex. Froze my ass off when Missoula temps dipped and was stuck with AC.

Holiday Inn. You can damn near roll down the hill from Reds right into your room.

I can vouch for that.....problem was, I wasn't staying at the Holiday Inn in 2007....
