Hindsight, was Montana wrong?

I saw this article on the Wasatch Swagger board. He talks about Montana's decision not to accept the WAC invitation a couple years ago. Thought you guys might be interested. You will need to scroll down a little.

I thought Dahlberg's capacity was more than 5500. I don't agree that Montana has a high ceiling for ticket prices like the poster claims. Montana fans are already paying FBS prices at the FCS level so I don't know how an increase would affect this. I guess they could charge $45 for out of conference games and $80 for homecoming and Griz/Cat but that is a lot of money for people in Montana.

"Dahlberg Arena is a 7,321-seat multi-purpose arena in Missoula, Montana. The arena, which opened in 1953, is home to the University of Montana Grizzlies and Lady Griz basketball teams. It has hosted the Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament five times: 1978, 1991, 1992, 2000 and 2012.

The arena can be configured to seat 5,500 people for a traditionally staged concert or can utilize all 7,500 seats for a concert with a central stage."

Wikipedia

Likely the author misquoted Wikipedia (forgetting that some seats are blocked by the stage when a band is playing). So, for basketball capacity is 7321. Remember when it used to be over 9000, before the renovation?

Either way, Kent State has the smallest gym in division 1 and their basketball team makes money.

I've been on eGriz for a substantial amount of time, and in that time, I've yet to read a poster that appears to be more obsessed about the Griz moving up than NavyBlue.

It's my problem, not his, and because of this, I fear I'm missing something...and I don't know what it is!

I admire your consistency, but Sweet Mother of Pearl, NavyBlue, at least every once in awhile, post a recipe, a pic of your car, a fish you caught, an antelope/deer/elk you shot, or the latest book/movie you read or saw, huh?!!?

No Spanky is king of the move up group and 2nd place isn't even close.

I appologize. I thought you guys might be interested because the article is about Montana.

I won't post on here anymore.

Don't worry about it NavyBlue. Some of us that remain open minded about the situation and rarely jump into the debate cess pool enjoy hearing from you. Your viewpoint and the links you provide are interesting. You will be castigated by some no matter which side of the issue you are on. :thumb:

navyblue, screw the ones who cannot bite their tongue. A few just like to instigate, and be negative on everything. If you have not noticed, even Ryan Bagley was ripped into for promoting his website. I heard it to, simply for posting a Montana kid would be going to a pretty damn good camp, and getting some good recognition.

For what it is worth, I like reading the opinions of other fans, from other teams, and conferences. Screw the one giving you a hard time. :thumb:
