Hey Griz Nation

It wasn't the refs...

Last night we saw the Griz in their purest form.

1. They have zero receivers who can take the top off of a defense. Teams can play man to man every game, every play.

2. The Griz offensive line is below average to average. They will generate about 3 or just above 3 YPC with almost zero explosive run plays against playoff-caliber teams.

3. Their special teams are well below average.

3. Depth is a problem at almost every position group except LB.

4. The Defensive front was absolutely destroyed on that OT drive.

5. Expectations for this season by this fan base were ridiculous, and based on what exactly? Seriously why?

Despite all of that...I still get the sense teams will not want to play them in the playoffs, should they play well enough over the next few weeks to get in.

UM Lost by 7 to Idaho, a team that has only 2 FBS loses and
UM lost by 7 on the road in OT to the #2 team in the nation.(With a really bad call)
Everything is OK....

Exactly and Kris Brown did a good job as backup considering his play time with the number 1's.

No question the Griz are better with LJ. The question is how much better...mediocre to good? Good to great? I think they go from OK to OK+.

I think the lift is bigger than that. The drop off is SO severe to the #2 that we become less than mediocre. Are we “great”? I don’t think so, but I haven’t thought so from the beginning (hence my “quarterfinals at best” take early on)….without him we’ll be lucky to make the playoffs. Hopefully he wasn’t dinged too bad.

Ugh.

Brown has been around for a long time. He looks the part but isn't a FCS level qb. I do not understand how the coaches don't realize this. The qb coach needs to be replaced asap.

I guess you were asleep by the time OT came around.

I agree he wasn’t exactly stellar but he is only running the plays the OC calls.
Like you said in another post they would have had better chance letting him dink and dunk for the first down rather than going for it all with the TD.
