I hate the Confederate flag as much as anybody. But let's not forget that Lincoln had a policy of charging $300 to get out of the Civil War draft. What poor Yankee could cough up that fee? Unfortunately, my "just off the boat" Irish brethren were recruited with no escape path and forced to fight in a war that they didn't know anything about because they couldn't afford the fee and wanted to be an American citizen. Honest Abe was no saint. The 19th century American South was f..ked up! We all know that. They deserved to have General Sherman torch their cities IMO. American history is not as "clean" as all of us want to admit unfortunately. There were "immoral" players on both sides of the fence. As I've said before on the message board, if the sons and daughters of the South want to fly their flag, go ahead! But remember this, Scoreboard! They lost!
