Hermason in trouble...ugh

This entire thread is racially driven.

You guys wouldn’t even be discussing this if Hermanson were white.

I see a much more gentle Missoulian headline with "Griz Hermanson suspended, apologizes for drunken vandalism" than we would have seen in the previous two years.
Yeah, and it wasn't on the front page of the paper, with the headline in a huge font. In fact, the story yesterday about his arrest was on an inside page in the second section. Pretty amazing, considering the Missoulian's recent history.

Someone explain to me why his alcohol level is a big deal in this situation as I didn't see he was driving? What am I missing? He is 21, so why was this an issue?

I wondered the exact same thing.

It is an issue because it shows he is not 100% dedicated to being the best football player he can be. Drinking that much during season is going to have a negative effect on performance. When hundredths of a second might mean getting to a ball, making a tackle or missing you can't be drinking like that and be 100%. And yes I know it was a weekend....that doesn't matter....look at research done on how alcohol affects an athlete.... Selfish...

I think the question is why was he even given a breathalyzer if he wasn't driving?

Yeah that is an interesting question. Do the police give those tests for public intoxication tickets?

maybe as a precaution? just to see where he was at. the guy was stumbling around shirtless slurring his words and he forgot what state he was in.

maybe this was a way for the officer to determine if a visit to the hospital was in order or just the jail.

I wondered about this too.

Never been arrested. Only know one person that has ever been so, a lawyer for DUI. Know a few that should've been arrested, but hey it's Butte. Anyone proud of the fact is an idiot.

You have lead a sheltered life. Know only one person who has been arrested. Are you also telling us that you know only one person who has gotten a dui? Don't know anyone who has been caught with pot. No one who got in a bar room brawl and got caught. No wonder you have the goody two-shoes attitude. You must not know people who have participated in protest movements. You must be unfamiliar with the earlier days of the labor movement, in Butte, Missoula and elsewhere. Must not know or care about people of color or modern day immigrants. Must not respect people around the world who are protesting for more freedom and getting arrested. Of course, you're the poster who has supported the Missoulian, UMass made a good decision by moving up, and said Will Cherry wasn't a good point guard--so what should we expect.

WTF? How does his post justify him being accused of not caring about people or causes? That seems like an unfair reach to me.

I agree with him, most people should not be proud of being arrested. I've never known anybody that was proud of their arrest record that wasn't a loser. I'm not sure if I buy that he only knows one person that has been arrested. I myself, have never been arrested, but have plenty of close friends that have been that I consider great people.

As far as Hermy goes, he did something stupid and embarrassed himself. He'll take his punishment and will be back better for it. I don't think what he did justifies much ridicule though...

I have him blocked so cant see his posts. Typical PR. He's still pissed I called the UMass move up when he said it would never happen. Of course being related to a member of the athletic department has its advantages. Now to address his attacks...

I said Will Cherry was one of the best 5 players of all time but that his numbers did not suggest he was a true point guard (which they never did), and that he would be hard pressed to make the NBA. Thats 1 for me, zero for him. I never said UMass moving up was a good decision, I said they moved up because the inner circle wanted to become part of the Big East eventually, and develop rivalries with BC, and CT. 2-zip. And yes I support the Missoulian, because creates jobs for many individuals in Missoula, and I feel is a better paper than the GF Trib or the Montana Standard. Not perfect, but the do cover things other than sports....I dont where rose colored glasses. Ordigger 3 PR Zip....I know it frustrates him cause he's never right....lol.

As for the rest of the blather, I do believe he just proved point....considering he's best arrested and all. Maybe my circle is just better, we don't get caught or arrested.

I just assumed he was jealous because you are such a "sexy" poster... :coffee:

That's about the only thing I could think of but he wasn't cited for that was he?

They try to and you dont have to allow it if you are not driving. The same way you do not need to show ID to a cop unless you are being detained. Cops always want to ask you for your ID and you dont need to give it to them...."just because".

As drunk as the kid was at least he didn't resist and make things worse. Contempt of cop will get you every time.

Wow I am pretty sure those hard working union guys from Butte and Missoula are thrilled you, with your infinite wisdom, put them in the same category with a drunken football player. Oh wait, you aren't from here are you...

Not from here? Our family is now 5th generation on my paternal great grandfather's side, perhaps 15th or 20th generation on my paternal great grandfather, grandfather and grandmother's side (all Native American), and 5th generation on my maternal great grandparent's side. Ranching on both sides. Born and raised in MT. And live in MT now. How about you? Are you from here?
Ya, I read all the BS you post here...   and, yesiree, I am born raised EDUCATED and still live here!!! (you too afraid to go to umlaw? or didnt you get accepted???)

So......Hermanson already lost one one hundredth of a second of speed in a game that doesn't happen for two more weeks? Damn. That sucks! Now I'm really worried about the PSU game.

Didn't get accepted (actually got accepted, but didn't want to take the necessary two quarters of accounting instead). Went to Stanford instead. Stanford isn't Montana, but it's a decent school. http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-law-schools/law-rankings" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All you have to do is read the biographies of some of sports greatest players....Mickey Mantle, Max McGhee (Packer receiver in 60's & 70's), Babe Ruth, Paul Hornung, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Ingemar Johannson......those guys were blowing >.16 at least three nights a week and double on Sundays.....old age got those guys; not alcohol consumption!!
Not recomending everyone go out and do it.....but it seems to me that drinking to excess one day will effect your performance two weeks in the future is a pretty long reach!!!
