Here's hoping the FSC game fares better than Boise did with Dallas.

Yesterday in Dallas we saw nearly non- stop thunder, lightening and rain from early PM into late evening. No way they could play a game in the old Cotten Bowl Stadium. Today's paper grousing that the city paid ESPN $300,000 to cover a game that officially never happened after selling only 16,400 tickets.

Got to feel bad for the kids & their parents, coaches & schools. They put a bunch of work in getting ready & shelled out a lot of $$$ to get this result. Although @ this point, the game result is significantly better in my mind than the interception bowl that was played last night. & messing with the kicker like that, priceless.

So important of a game gets cancelled because of lightning...sitting here watching bits and pieces of other meaning less bowl games...damn, I sure wish we could move up and play in one of these fan favorite experiences... oh the pleasure we are missing....

Question...What game is the FSC game?

The one between ewoooo and undsu. Game played near Dallas, hence the wish the game is played and not cancelled.

Edit....aaaah...I see!

How many of those terrifically popular playoff games have we played in the past decade?

Depends on what one considers terrifically popular. I enjoy just the thought of knowing there is a chance to win a football championship. How many have we won, two. NDSU is going/should win it's sixth this year. If they were FBS, they would never be considered to compete for a single one. But I bet they're fans would just be thrilled to death to be playing in the Sun bowl or the Alamo bowl or the whatever bowl?

What, you didn't like watching the Cheez-it Bowl between Baylor and Vanderbilt?

well, tonight the Alamo Dome in San Antonio will be filled to capacity with Iowa State and Washington State fans (and living in SA, I'll be there as well), so yeah, apparently they ARE thrilled to be playing.

Point being, we haven't played a meaningful playoff game since 2011 (unless you count those stupid play-in games or getting by SDSU in 2015)...the last three years we'd have played bowl games with those records...yeah lower tier bowl games aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but IMHO one of the biggest things missing from our #RTD is that 3-4 extra weeks of practice you get to have BECAUSE of the playoffs/bowls. I think THAT would have put a huge kickstart on NEXT year's team, having another month of "free" practice...so it almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy...the less often you make the playoffs, the more often you miss the playoffs...

I especially enjoyed seeing that HUGE trophy last night. You would think the winner between two 6-6 teams had won the national championship. That said....it was entertaining. Hey...it's football!

Totally agree. The opportunity to get drubbed by Portland State on Homecoming is much more enticing. Or how bout those awesome road games at SUU and NoCo. Playing in a nationally televised bowl game has nothing on those...

We usually try to record all the bowl games ... and then maybe have one on live. Then we can pick and choose the better recorded games to watch when there's nothing else on. As you say: It's football. (Not much in the mood for basketball yet.)

FYI: The Cheez-It Bowl (the joke material there is just too easy  ) actually "featured" California vs TCU. They went into overtime to finish at 10-7 (TCU). Remind me again: Who was that offensive genius who moved to Cal to be their Offensive Coordinator? (I know, he wasn't out there throwing all those interceptions, but still ... ) Anyway, guess which recording we're not going to be watching.

All valid points but the chance to play for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP to me far outweigh the benefits of winning the potato bowel, er bowl.
