Herder’s New Bracketology

Not certain where I heard it, but I have understood that the NCAA pays the FCS playoff game team travel costs - wrong or right?

fcs needs to grow a pair for the first time ever and seed all 24 teams and blow up regionalization once and for all. Look, if your athletic department cannot afford a week's worth of travel to participate in the playoffs, you have absolutely NO business being a DI program.

No way this is what the final bracket ends up looking like. He's got 3 Big Sky teams all seeded on one side and 3 MVFC all seeded on the other side. I saw an interview with Craig Haley talking to Haslam and one of the things Haslam said the committee tries not to do is put all the teams from the same conference on the same side of the bracket. No way the committee would end up doing this

You may be right. Only would require moving MSU to the Furman quadrant and Sac State up to SDSU’s. Problem fixed. The bracket is then evened out with the four BSC teams. Lots can happen over the next two weeks. Going to be a long two weeks, but the Griz are certainly playing well. Cats defense looked very slow on the right side of the line when they played Northern Arizona. Film will tell what happened there and not sure about their injuries. Their defense is susceptible. Stopping their offense is what concerns me!

I believe they do. Hence regionalization to keep costs down. That is also why they take, something in the area of 75% of ticket revenue. Hence the desire for the NCAA to have Montana, MSU, NDSU, and SDSU have home games. They get the largest crowds and generate the biggest revenue for the NCAA to cover tournament expenses. If the NCAA was smart, they would have the FCS playoffs bid separately and at least get enough to cover the expenses. I had heard the NCAA threw in the FCS playoffs for no cost when ESPN was bidding on TV rights.

Hmm, so if the Griz happen to stumble in the last game of the year (I don’t think they will) they would possibly end up on the side with Furman, which is a good draw until having to meet SDSU. They could also swap places with the Cats, which would really suck since they would have a gauntlet to run and not at home. Man, these next two games are huge for the Griz and kittens. Could there be more on the line for the Brawl? The Playoffs haven’t been this interesting in awhile and nice to see four BSC teams in. I don’t think Sac State has earned it though.
I would love a scenario where the Griz welcome Furman to WA Griz and welcome BACK their OC. 8-)

This kind of bracketology is dependent on one thing - us winning the next 2 games.
Selfishly I would love a first round bye since I'm gone from Missoula until after Thanksgiving weekend and of course it's all about me. :thumb:

Yes. If you go to his twitter he explains his logic (and he believes Griz win out now)…

Sam seems right on in his assessment of the Griz's season

and the Furman wide receiver coach seems familiar too - name is similar to a JMU second string QB

He's been moving up the ranks every year.

Oh my gosh - I missed that. When I was looking at the Furman coaching staff, I saw Dudzik's name and thought it looked familiar, but I didn't think more about it. He was Landers' backup at the 2008 semi-final, right?

That would be sweet...

I hadn't even realized he had gone on to such a successful coaching career! Somebody we should be keeping an eye on.

Yes he was. Played awesome in that game when he came in also. His two-point attempt in that game was remarkable, not only for the effort and his flip, but the fact that by the way he was holding the ball, the back of his hand maaay have touched the line?? Crazy good game.

Couldn't agree more. That means it's sure to never happen.

Seeding 1-16 next season.

UNI could go from Herders #8 seed to not making the tourney in the final 2 weeks. Blowing it to Mo St with NDSU next week putting them at 6-5…. But somehow they will still be that one 5 loss team in the field(that didn’t win their conference).

Idaho losing to Weber probably just cost them a seed.

The winner of Delaware and Nova should solidify a seed.

If the Griz take care of business tonight, the winner of the brawl wins the Big Sky and should get the #2 seed.

If the Griz win the brawl (and beat PSU)they get the two seed but I don't think a three loss MSU gets the two seed.

As long as we take care of business the loser of the brawl should be no worse than # 4 seed, but the shot at #2 and a BSC title adds some real big stakes to an already high stakes game. Need some big griz energy tonight!

Nothing would make me happier than beating the cats and them getting 4/5 and getting to go to sdsu to cry some more about how they get screwed by the committee completely forgetting the jv side they got put on in the run to frisco.

Griz win tonight - has there ever been a Brawl with so much on the line? Damn this game tonight makes me nervous. Just get the hell out of there with a win and I hope Ah Yat gets three quarters of play because it is a blowout.
