I suggest if you want to help keep the Griz competitive that you make an NIL contribution. Go to Good Ol" Griz and see what your actions can do to help us out.

It is not a pleasant situation, but it is what it is. So, jump on board and make your actions count.

Also, feel free to offer a contribution to our band, so they can get to Frisco, too!

Struggling to understand or like the NIL stuff. I love the Griz and the University of Montana. Enjoyed every moment in college. NIL and NCAA seem to be ruining college football. I’m all about kids earning a full ride/ books/ housing, etc. Getting paid actual dollars seems like a stretch. Especially when back in the day you couldn’t buy a player a coke without jeopardizing the program.

The universities making money off the player when you couldn’t buy that player a Coke was the stretch.

My fear is based on my belief that money ruins everything. I get that money is in the mix but to make it central to college football’s daily fabric really risks it becoming just the NFL minor league. We’ve all seen that play out and it wasn’t pretty. I’m hoping NIL can evolve into something fair but not so disruptive.

I understand your concerns, but hasn’t CFB always been exactly the NFL minor league? Some make it; most don’t. Scouts look at prospects. That kind of thing?

I just don’t see the problem with NIL. The richest programs getting the best players is nothing new. If anything, assuming we do it right, it could possibly benefit UM within our level. Imagine if we were able to get Vincent Jackson for 15k back in the day when NCU could only come up with a box of oranges and tickets to the train museum.

Maybe if the Title 9 stuff went away. Seems like football carries the sports that can’t make it. Usually women’s athletics (generally speaking).

I think a free education, room/board is a fair trade for services rendered on the field. I’m always impressed with the students that get degrees that are financially lucrative and were able to maintain good grades while working their tails off in the gym/court/field.

I know we won’t solve the problem on eGriz, but just giving my perspective on why I won’t be donating at this point in time. I’m open for my mind to be changed though.

Let’s say that it is. I don’t agree, but let’s say it is. If we all take that stance because we don’t agree they should be compensated, we will be left behind.

It’s like when an old man tries to pay cash for a hotdog at cashless baseball stadium. Welp, no hotdog for him, but at least it gives him something to bitch about at the barber shop.

As a father of two tennis recruits, the primary considerations were school, conference, coach, scholarship. Now, apparently, the most important consideration is the amount of NIL. I don’t think the change is good for college athletics.

If your kids would’ve been very high level FB recruits, the amount of $$ would’ve been more important. You might’ve even received a house in San Diego in addition to the heavy duffel bags.

Listen, bub. I LIKE complaining at the barber shop. :coffee: :coffee:

Any thread having to do with NIL currently is worth keeping at the top of the board. I truly hope everyone on this board takes the time to www.goodolgrizzlies.com and makes a donation! Maybe even a monthly recurring donation. Any small amount, done consistently, will make a huge impact.
