Helping the cats solve their "mystery"

Htowngriz said:
On top of this mess, you've got the "JJ faked his injury" and the "this loss is squarely on the defense" crowds. That place is a train wreck of the highest order.

Well in all honesty JJ and staff possibly did play it up...... just a little. It's been done before.

And as far as their loss being squarely on the defense they are actually right about that, only it was OUR defense.

And will be done again. Strategery.

There's a difference between exaggerating or being ambiguous about the severity of an injury and outright faking it. He most certainly did not do the latter. Not to mention the fact that JJ was quoted as saying "I don't think there's any way I won't play" on, what, Wednesday?

I think his success running the ball had more to do with the fact that he hadn't done it much before Saturday and the cats were caught off guard by it. I think he had more rushing yards in that game than all the previous ones combined.

I agree.

CNN now reporting that all of the tin foil is now being looted in Bozeman. Presumably for hats...

Gamesmanship.

Well, it's worse than it looks. They are looting for tin foil, not realizing that, these days, it's all aluminum on the shelves, which has no ferromagnetic properties ....

couldn't agree more. that thread is a joke.

couple questions. if the griz coaches apparently have this "cheating" down to such a science...why would they wait to use this just for the cats? if knowing what an opposing offense if going to run play after play after play is doable...um must be the dumbest team in the country to wait to use this strategy until the last game of the season.

next, even if this was being done...is it even really cheating? if your staff is smart enough to be able to actually know our offense as good as our offense...then why not use it?

and finally, again assuming that um could actually pull this off, if the fans know it, and the message boards know it, how stupid would our coaching staff have to be to not do anything about it?!

lately i think the message boards after a tough loss (or close win  ) is even tougher to handle than actually watching the team suffer a tough loss.

Re: Cat-Griz mystery

It is obvious they cheat and steal signs, they have a video guy that films our games and writes down hand signals so they have an advantage at the end of the year. I heard they keep the same guy so it is easier to keep quiet and not many people know about this going on.

You know what's really sad. That thread was started by Tom Stuber. I don't know him personally, but I know people who do, and have heard nothing but great things about him. Heard he is an absolutely great guy, as I'm sure most Cat fans are. I have some close friends who are Cat fans and they sure as hell are great guys. In reading his original post, I can't tell if it was intent to start this whole "cheating" thing. I don't think it was, and I really hope it wasn't cause that would make me think a lot differently about him. I think cat-bracket and others just took the numbers he posted and ran with them. But for god sakes, that thread needs to hit lockdown, because it is just getting really embarrassing for the quality posters on BN, as well as the 99 percent of MSU fans who represent a great fan base.

I bet the "Video Guy" wears a pair of these and a GRIZ sweatshirt inside out. They never suspect a thing.....it's just "Video Guy."

If you really think somebody is cheating by stealing your signs (which is a really dumb thing to think here), how fucking stupid are you if you don't change your signs?!

tom made it very clear once he saw the direction of the thread that he wasn't implying that the griz were cheating. he's a poster who likes to ask questions, crunch numbers, etc. other posters took what he wrote and really ran with it.

here's what he posted halfway down the first page
For the record, I'm not claiming or implying that UM is cheating. The Griz have held MSU below its average offense per game and also below their average defense per game. The former number is understandable, the latter isn't. Typically you get to your average by holding weak teams below your average, while strong teams are above your average. MSU has been one of the strong offensive teams the Griz have faced, yet it has been one of the teams the Griz have held below their defensive average for five straight years.

Of all the teams UM has played over the past five years, MSU has been one of the easiest for the Griz defense to stop.

Maybe they do change their signs and one of the people involved in changing them is leaking the new ones to the Griz. The Cat's staff might have a mole...er...a griz...a molegriz...or grizzlymole? Something like that. Maybe it's Ash!
