Hellgate Basketball

[/quote]

How can you say that fischer is a better coach than laslovich.(spelling?) look at the talent that fischer had last year. give any coach that talent and they win the state year after year. look at the team that laslovich has this year. their best player is morris and that is a stretch. they took the state champions to the end with a team that barely got into the tournament. fischer is not a coach that can take a team deep in the tournament. i will take laslovich and sampson anyday..

Sampson is a way better coach than Fischer, that jackass is the reason that hellgate has T-Mo and the ONLY reason that Sent. didnt win the title last year. Plus Sampson will never give the other team free points, cause no ref is ever gonna give him a T. not even welsch is dumb enough to do that.

'LjSnUo', GOOD POINT on pointing out Cox's 19 assists! That is SICK! Charlie has been so impressive lately, it is unreal. The kid can drop dimes like an overfull piggy bank.

Cox has been playing well. I would also like to say congrats to Jack and Morris for having a nice last couple games.

To clear things up

The only reason that T-Mo transfered to hellgate from Sent is because he was sick of putting on a purple uniform everynight and looking like a faggot. He is still a typical cocky sentinel kid (kid never shutsup) but listen if i had the chance to be part of the best team in western montana and get away from all the faggots from sentinel...i do it faster than he did it!!!

Dear Swilly3224,

It's too bad that this board is tanking because of stupid and unthoughtful posts like the one you posted above this.

How about some tips in order to help you post some more intelligent things in the future.

1) Tell us how you know that Trevor Morris hates the color purple.
2) Explain why all of the kids at Sentinel are homosexuals.
3) Let's stay away from offensive terminology that could be deemed hateful or racist....how about no more F words to describe gays and hopefully you'll never pull out any racially offensive terms.

Well I hope you take the time to read this post, and maybe a few books. Please don't contribute to the downfall of this board.

Sincerely,
The Explosive 1

I agree with explosive 1. How did all of these 13 year old 7th graders get the passwords to their moms internet accounts. Why would Trevor Morris tranfer to keep from putting on a purple jersey? Maybe he wanted to play for a college level coach like Jim Sampson, although Fischer is also a former grizzly assistant, or maybe, if you actually knew the kid or anything about him, he wanted to reunite with Charlie. They went to middle school together at Meadow Hill and won the Maverick tournament (8th grade championship) in a run away. I'm sure Charlie talked Trevor into coming to Hellgate and probably told him what a good coach Sampson was.

As far as Sampson never making it to state, he has been developing the same core group of players for the past two seasons. The only two players that contributed to Hellgate last season who aren't there now are Matt Guffey and Brian Gaul and neither one was a star or a focal point, just a solid senior leader. This seasons team is last seasons team. I think the only player that suits varsity this year that didn't last season is Michael Newman. McGillis, K. Shaffer, Barnes, Cox all started last season and Joe Johnson has been Charlies back up since he was a sophomore. J. Shafer, Van Fossen, and Gale all suited as sophs last year as well.

As far as the Laslovich vs. Fischer debate, the one thing that sticks out to me about sentinel compared to other teams is that they don't seem to improve much from the beginning of the season to the end. Last season, Big Sky started 1-8 and finished the regular season at 9-11, wining 8 of its last 11 games. Then they took CMR, eventual state champs, to OT at state and might have won if Steven Thomas wouldn't of been giving a "phantom" fifth foul. Sentinel seems to start out on a tear ever year. 8-1 this year, buy to state last year, 4 regular season losses 2 seasons ago. But then when the state tourney roles around, its 0-2 barbeque. With the Hasquets, Morris, Poitras, Stensland, Ayala, Monanco, Gaertener how did they not even win a game. Two years ago you coulda thrown Henkel into the mix, but he did miss significant time in the tourney because of his ankle. The point is I guess that Sentinel seems stay as good as they are going to get from start to finish, whereas Hellgate (who struggled early with a 4-3 start) has gelled and Big Sky (who although is just 3-11, played Hellgate to within two points until the 4th quarter, and only lost to Helena High by one, plus they have last season as proof) are ever improving and the only thing that could cause that is intense practices and a good motivator to lead them. Coaching is clearly the driving factor. That said, 1. Jim Sampson for his basketball knowledge and as another post said "tough" love. 2. Josh Laslovich, for making everything of what he is given (talent wise) 3. Joe Fischer. although he may have the state appearances, he just coasts in. Must be a decent coach though managing all of those egos the last few years.

I heard that Trevor Morris transferred to Hellgate because a Weedgie Board told him to. WHO CARES! It's done...deal with it.

i agree with monthoops in the fact that its hilarious that Hellgate basketball gets twice the hits that griz bball does. Maybe Krysto will come on here and read all of and hook up McGillis with a spot on the team. I think Cox, Hasquet, and McGillis all have at least BSC level talent and T. Morris could do a better job as a walk on then some of our current walk ons like Nick Thierry???

Yeah Jagur1, Or you're gonna feel kinda stupid when they win State and I remind you of your last post every single day until Hellgate wins a State football championship.

Mslaman56, the Griz have made it clear they want Jack to sign with them. They have a scholarship for him in his second year. Why they didn't make him a priority??? They didn't seem to care about him when they were signing prep guard/forwards from Washington a few months back. He is getting a lot of D1 interest right now from a lot of different states (Washington, Oregon, New York, California, Wyoming, Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee) just to name a few. I really hope it isn't a case of "too little, too late" for the Griz.

I do!!

At the beginning of the high school season, it seemed as if everyone was saying the only player that could possibly play D-1 basketball was Kellen Hasquet. Now that McGillis has been dominating, it seems as if the Griz are going to regret writing him off as a D-1 talent too early. The Cats have given Jack much more love all season long.

It's obvious to me, the Knights are improving rapidly and are the most talented team out there. Last week they played bad, and without their head coach, and still coasted to an easy 20 point win against Big Sky. I think this weekend the could possibly beat Sentinel by 30. Sentinel seems kind of soft, and Hasquet is NO match for McGillis in the post. Does anyone honestly think Sentinel has a chance of knocking off Hellgate??

I will say this, at the begining of the season, both Kellen and Jack were on the list of two players that had D-1 potential, with Kellen having a slight edge over Jack as a prospect. I believe Kellen was on an official visit and was offered by the Cats this fall. Right now there are three guys playing in Montana that are getting some D-1 attention. McGillis, Hasquet, and James Bulluck 6-5 of Billing Skyview. McGillis has pulled away from the crowd, and Bulluck might be a better college player than Hasquet now Everyone has known about Hasquet for quite some time, but he peretty much the same player this year as last. McGillis seem just keeps working to get better and it shows, plus he keeps growing. Bulluck will most likely go the Frontier route, but he will be a steal.

Why would you start hating on Thierry. Lets be honest none of us know what he is capable of because he hasn't gotten time. I would have to say his attitude is one of the best, he is always cheering on the team and giving high fives to players comin off the court. He gets along with everyone on the team, there is more to that than you think. I guarentee he makes the guards work their ass off in practice, he's quick. Sometimes attitude helps a little more than you think.

:o :o I will take Thierry on my team any day. Pound for pound and inch for inch. I do not see any basis for using his name in a silly dicussion. He got the best natural crowd and team reaction seen so far this season Sat night going to the bucket at the finnish. Like to have tried him at the end of the Santa Clara game looking back on it. :o :o
