Hellgate B-ball

How good is Hellgate going to be this year? The reason I ask is because SI
picked them as the top team in Montana this year.
I wonder if they forgot all the good players that graduated last year?

i think SI needs to do a little more research on the subject of montana basketball. i do believe that is taken from last year's stats or the fact they were the best team last year.

Jim has alot of work to do this year with a young group. I dont see hellgate making the playoffs this year....

The Missoulian didn't even mention Brendan Brown (elthough he was pictured). He's a sophomore and became the starting QB half-way through the year. He is as MUCH better hoops player than football too. He should be a 3-year starter in hoops. Hellgate has a bright future with him and Taylor Nordby, another soph who was 6'2" at age 14 and Hellgate's starting TE in football. Granted, I realize starting for Hellgate's football team isn't saying much.

I couldn't name one other B-ball player in the state and have no idea how good Hellgate compares to others, but I know Brendan will be a player to watch for years to come (if he can stay eligible). I gotta believe Nordby will too.

Both are even better baseball players, but their futures in that sport could be dead-ending, since they won't play for the Mavs. Montana needs HS baseball desperately. How there can be girls HS softball and no HS baseball is ridiculous. Brown threw 88 mph as an 8th grader. I saw the radar gun at an Osprey game myself. He threw several no-hitters last year in LL. He's the best pitcher in town, PERIOD. He would have been the ace of the AA Mavs last year easily (as a 15 year old).

Hellgate is coached well, How do you think they will do against the Great Falls Bison this weekend?
