Hauk and Stitt.

Stanley, there is zero chance of ANY OP escaping some type of criticism on this board so don't be deterred! :thumb:

You must not understand who "hauk" is because it's "Hauck". As of now you can't and shouldn't compare stitt and Hauck together. Coach still has lost more conference games in one year than Hauck did in the last four. Bobby went 31-1 I believe in conference play , and that only loss was to weber state-who was a great team that year. Also, in all 7 seasons he won the big sky championship for us. I know this is stitts first year but Haucks job for our Griz was the best we've ever had... 80-17 in 7 seasons, and the fastest coach to win 80 games in big sky conference history; beating the old record by three and a half years! So before you go off criticizing Hauck, look at the things he did for us as our head coach. What we need to realize is a place like the UM is a stepping stone for coaches to get to the next level. I hope the Griz get to greatness again like we did under Hauck.
Can't agree with that totally. Glenn (did I spell it right?) was 39-6 in his UM tenure and won a NC. He lost his first game and 3 of his last 4, so in between he had a 38-2 run with the two losses to FBS Hawaii and a NC game to GA Southern in the typhoon when Miller was knocked out early.

I followed Bobby Hauk when he coached UNLV. Not literally, but as best I could by reading game summaries, watching his TV show on line and catching the Rebels games on TV. I hoped a former Griz coach would climb the ladder.

I also followed the UNLV fan chat room banter.

Hauk seemed doomed from the outset.

His critics bombarded him continually because he had dubious success at an FCS school, but didn't pack the gear to coach in the BCS. He was a "cheap hire", blah, blah. The AD began taking fire as well.

His supporters begged for patience, giving Hauk the necessary time to build his program before writing him off as a headstrong, inflexible taskmaster, whom many of his players didn't trust.

Hauk struggled under the pressure as his recruiting classes finally made the rotation.

Hauk made changes in his staff, moved personnel around and created a quarterback controversy.

Nothing he tried could redeem him... except winning.

Being a below average football mind, in the end I had difficulty determining if Hauk simply buckled under the pressure of trying to satisfy his critics or if they had him pegged before he traded his Griz cap for a Rebel one.

Point is, I too have had serious doubts about Stitt's coaching and vaunted offense that have been confirmed by greater football minds than I. Several post on this site.

My instincts tell me that Stitt will face Hauks fate and be fired at the end of his contract. In the interim, the hopes of Griz nation will rise and fall on a weekly basis.

Two more seasons of the "Little General" may be brutal for him, his family, Haslam, and Griz fans that have helped make Griz football the prototype program of the Big Sky. Just my opinion.
I think Hauck put himself in a fail situation to begin with by going to a BB school that had very little FB support thus it was hard to recruit to. UNLV was less then a lateral move and he paid for it. By the way, I couldn't disagree with you more on what you said about Stitt.
