OK, as TCC says, "It's a done deal." All I'll say is don't expect BH to have the Griz in the playoffs, let alone the NC, his 1st season. This isn't 10 or so yrs. ago in the BSC, esp. when BH won't have the latitude to bring in the goons he did who caused all the Msln headlines. I think he was hampered by the UNLV AD, who I think laid down the law to him re: recruiting borderline criminals, based on his MT practices.

Bobby is a good, maybe the best coach UM has ever had. That aside, even if he's the next HC, don't expect the times of "back when."

Whoever the coach may be for next year, I'll have the same season expectations that I would have had Stitt's contract been extended...that includes beating the cats and at least two playoff games. If the new coach can't do that with the talent we have, why get rid of Stitt without giving him at least one more year in the first place?

Just guessing but probably early next week

Lmfao at everyone jumping to conclusions that this a "done deal". As of 3 pm yesterday, the job had not been offered to Bobby & a full on coaching search was imminent. This is not to say that Bobby doesn't have a ton of support, but the insinuation that this is anywhere close to being wrapped up just isn't true.
The question was asked “if”, that’s how I answered it. Nowhere did I say anything was “wrapped up”.

No matter what happens, I can't believe that some people don't understand the quality of players and individuals Hauck recruited during his time at U of M. The majority of his players have gone on to very successful professional positions . Dr. Huntsberger, attorneys McEntire and McFarland, several coaches such as Ferriter, Selle , Troxel .NFL players like Schellenger, Anderson, Mariani, Reynolds. Etc, Etc, Etc.The list goes on and on and is too extensive to cover completely on this site. Every program is going to have a small majority of players that make mistakes, bad choices or just don't pan out. Please don't come on here and call his former players goons. A classic example of an inappropriate statement when hiding behind a keyboard .

Agree with the sentiment. Huntsberger was before Hauck's time though.

Why would you allow Stitt 4 years, with the Griz coming off of top 12 and 8 seasons, and playoffs and wins over the Cats, and give the new coach only 1 year to win 2 playoff games when the team hasn't been to playoffs or beaten Cats for 2 years?

As I had noted a couple months ago, and given how the season went, coach decisions and selections are no longer solely Haslam's decisions, and Haslam probably knows that a mistake at this time would probably mean that the next search would be for a new coach and new AD. Hauck is both a very good and safe selection. I'm not going to diss on Stitt (or Semore), but it seems that not renewing Stitt is an admission by Haslam that he made a mistake last time.

Because it was clear to anyone that knows a little football, that is wasn't going to happen with Stitt. There.

This references my post re: the kinds of players BH can now recruit. I did not say ALL players for BH were goons. I only said that those who made Missoulian headlines and got on police blotters were goons.

I applaud BH for recruiting guys who went on to better and greater things. My only question is, "Can he win like he did at UM w/ a "clean" locker room? Ty was shown the door at UNLV by the AD for his "indiscretion." Football is different now than then. That's my only question & if BH is hired, time will have to tell.

When BH was at UM, he had 3 guys involved with a house burglary. Who else do you consider a goon? TG was let go by UNLV before the Boulder investigation was complete, and before it was known that the police had released incorrect information, e.g., that he'd been in a strip club (which turned out to be incorrect). I was told that the UNLV AD later gave a job recommendation for TG. Also, the UNLV president had forced the AD to let TG go.

You think BH can win w/ the guys he's got now & will only be able to have in the future. Ok. He's an excellent coach & if hired, I hope he can. We shall see, IF he's hired.

David, if Bobby is hired, sit back, relax and watch him build a national powerhouse......again.

For me, given the talent Stitt squandered to a 7-4 record, BH gets two years to get us into the semis before UM sends him on down the road. Good coaches don't need to make excuses. Based on reading posts on here, I think he'll deliver.

You don't understand, according to some on here...he only needs 4 games to achieve 9 wins. That's my expectation.

I think that's fair. I'll give him the following:

2 quarters to show passion
2 games to show fire
4 games to show swagger
5 games to show heart
1 season to win in the playoffs
2 seasons to make the semifinals

Those should be his goals, and Haslam should express them in the hiring meeting so everyone is on the same page.

I think it's clear that the fan base isn't going to tolerate 7-4, mediocrity, excuses, and moral victories anymore. BH will know this coming in, and will not be surprised if he's shown the door if he can't deliver. These kids are too talented for another 7-4 season. Period.
