Hauck to Illinois

People are unhinged over this.
well...it is kind of humorous...the guy plans out everything in his life, so he has
a guy in his basement for a year...that guy ends up becoming HC leaves the AD
to accept this basement guy to be HC so the program doesn't lose its players
and coaches, so he cooks up this tag team deal so he can be free to get out of
dodge knowing he probably would lose the Cats again.... sounds like a reason
people might get unhinged...plus doing this he doubles his pay...you can't make
this shit up....I hope the program survives to be relevant...I guess will, see?

Everything he said about loyalty, agents, kids lack of foresight etc. All hypocritical bullshit. Total cash grab. Time to re address the legacy thread.
He won't have to deal with or know about any of the agents or money stuff. It will be out of sight, out of mind. Makes it easier to just do football

Ya you're right. You're right about everything.

Goddamn, he did you guys dirty. I thought it was a joke until I came here.

So basically, if we accept the hints in a favorable way,
1. Coach stepped down because he no longer enjoyed coaching in the new reality,
2. Illinois said "holy shit, let's grab him" because montana is always good
3. Illinois threw a lot of cash at him
4. Bobby grunted
5. Illinois said "you'll never have to deal with NIL issues again, we have someone for that"
6. Profit.

Don't get your panties in a wad, Mr. Potato Head 😋 🤣 🤪 !!!

He said he never wanted to be a head coach again--he didn't say he was leaving coaching football, in fact, he all but said that he wasn't during his retirement press conference.

And he was President of The American Football Coach Association ( AFCA ) last year , so given that and his 38 years coaching college football, he knows a lot of people, a lot of college foitball coaches, including in The Big 10.

While I don't know exactly what happened, it's entirely feasible given his contacts that the Illinois job came together very rapidly--I hear they have the internet, Google and Facebook in Illinois in general and specifically in Champaign-Urbana or " Chambana," home of Thee Fightin' Illini, The University of Illinois, that went 9-4 in 2025, including a bowl win over Tennessee of The SEC. ! This isn't 1996, 2006, or 2016--while searches requiring 2-3 months still happen, increasingly searches of 2-3 days also occur in 2025 and 2026 !!!.

Good for Coach Hauck !!!

People that wanted him gone should be happy. People that think he’s great should be happy he gets a chance at a higher level. Is this negative reaction just what happens when people aren’t as “in the know” as they thought?
I think how it was cook up that gets to people....he knew he was leaving and did a tag team
head coach deal without giving the AD time to do a nationwide search...sounds sketchy to
me....

All this bitching about how Montana should move up ala NDSU, and now all this bitching about Bobby moving up. Jeez, have a little consistency folks.

I’m not mad he left. I’m not mad he went to Illinois. It’s none of my business what he does with his life. I see a threat on the horizon (Hauck turning into Jimmy Rogers). Given the nature of the sport, im worried about what he could do to the program and how him getting a p4 coordinator gig could impact the make up of the team with the portal open. THATS what I’m worried about.

The only coaching position that he could take that would be unacceptable would be with the neighbors.
