Stark contrast to the text Bobby received from Griz Stud: "You up?"
I gave Craig and Dave D an email introduction to my friend and teammate, who is in the Hall of Fame. Here is my friend's email back. My friend got an award too. See below.
1. "Thanks for the introduction. I will definitely find the Dickenson brothers as we celebrate Dave’s induction, specifically, and football, generally. Buddy Teevins will be there as well. So we can give him some grief about missing out on Dave. [I tried to get Dartmouth to recruit Dave.]
I am headed to New York Sunday. I host a lunch at the 21 Club each year the day of the induction. It is in the Harbor Room at noon on Tuesday, December 4. If you and Dave want to join the group...love to have you. We are having Mack Brown as a special guest....and lots of Hall of Famers....all in....about 40 special people.....friends, fans, coaches. Admiral William McRaven(he lead the group that ultimately got Osama bin Laden) will be there....as part of the University of Texas contingent. It is a celebration of football at a great venue. You would enjoy it.
My sincere congratulations to Dave.....enjoy the moment."
2. "Murry Bowden Named 2018 NFF Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award Recipient
The College Football Hall of Famer and Atlanta Hall Management Chairman will be recognized at the 61st NFF Annual Awards Dinner on Dec. 4 in New York City."
""You learn leadership qualities in football," Bowden said. "People are looking for somebody to say, 'Let's go take this mountain.' It is a little bit inspiration, a little bit intellectualism and a lot of brute force. I just think it's a great sport. It's a very difficult sport, but it's played a big role in my development from growing up on a ranch in West Texas all the way to the Ivy League. It helped me get there."
"Bowden guided the Big Green to the Ivy League title in both his junior and senior seasons, the first two of an eventual string of five consecutive Ivy crowns. The undefeated 1970 team (9-0) was the last Ivy League school to be ranked among the nation's top 20 teams, as the Big Green finished 13th and 14th in the two major polls. That season, the Dartmouth defense ranked in the nation's top 10 in seven statistical categories, including first in scoring defense and second in total defense.
Bowden was a team captain and earned First Team All-America honors during his senior season in 1970. His other accolades included the Sport Magazine Athlete of the Month Award."

All cool stuff, PR.
I was just making a Growler (who is now back on eGriz as "Griz Stud") joke.
