The monumental task of taking on No. 5 Boise State Saturday at Sam Boyd Stadium became even more difficult for UNLV Wednesday afternoon.
UNLV coach Bobby Hauck announced five players were suspended for the game. Leading tackler Tani Maka, a sophomore linebacker, and second-leading rusher Tim Cornett, a sophomore running back, were included in the group.
Hauck broke the news through a press release.
“Due to a violation of team rules and code of conduct, these young men will be suspended for Saturday's game vs. Boise State," Hauck said in a statement.
The other players were junior linebacker Princeton Jackson, freshman receiver Devante Davis and freshman linebacker Peni Vea. The suspension will only last for one game.
The release stated UNLV would not comment any further on the matter.
