Hauck Quote

Shortly after he was asked “who would win in a fight, Monte or Champ”. He thought for a bit and replied “I never really understood why they named that thing Champ”

Now that was funny!

Yeah, I believe there is an angle to his comments.
This directly from someone in the athletic department.
" And no more lunch at bobcat loving Metals Bank, Bobby is taking the boys to Lydia's on their way thru friday. Then, they are staying in Livingston again. Stitt moved their friday night stay back to Bozeman, but no way does Hauck spend the night in Bozeman! After the game, no food in Bozeman, they are hitting Pork Chop Johns in Butte on their way back thru!! "
We'll see . I drive by Lydia's multiple times a day .

Not what anyone is saying. As I posted above, nothing with how Bobby feels about the rivalry has changed. Of course they're not staying in Bozeman, and all of that. What he's talking about what has changed is how the people around the rivalry act. A lot of people don't want to hear it, but, he's taking about US the fans, Griz and Cat fans. This isn't the first time he's talked like this since he came back, as I posted above. He thinks some of this stuff is out of control, and he means it. Like I said, if you know him, then you can hear it in his voice. His voice was shaking when he was talking. He was not f---in around with that statement.
He sees it differently now that his daughters go to school here.

The daughters are in Missoula, at the MSU nursing program. It's a fast track program. They will be done fairly soon. Always thought it was funny that MSU had to have its nursing program in Missoula. Just kidding.

Whoa. Listen, I know it’s Cat griz week and tensions are running high. But that is WAY over the line. Even for this place.

I hate the bobcats. I mean a deep down in the gut type of f*cking hatred. I have never and will never root for them in any sport, anywhere, under any circumstance. I do not root for the Montana kids on the team just because they're "from Montana". Whenever I see a bobcat victory in any sport, regardless of who they're playing, I cringe and throw up in my mouth a little. Having said that, I have many friends and family that are fans, students, or alumni and I would never disrespect any of them or any other cat fans by cursing at them, calling them names, damaging their property, starting a fight, etc. Those that do are flat out douches. And that's all I have to say about that....oh, one more thing. FTC! Long live rivalries!

+1. And I think this is what Bobby is talking about.

Why? It's a game. Played by 18-22 year olds.

For many years since the mid 80’s I never missed a Griz -cat game in Missoula or Bozeman. I’ve always had a certain amount of respect for the cat players and most of their coaches. I have a profound dislike for the fans, fueled by two incidents spanned by years. The 2nd I will share and it was this incident that made me decide it was too risky to attend the Brawl of the Wild in Bozeman. I had been taking the GSA bus to Bozeman a few times as I enjoyed having my ride to and from the front gate. After a Griz win a group of 15 or so elderly Griz fans were waiting for our bus. A small group of 3 cat fans - college age males came through drunk and commiserating their loss. We gave them plenty of room but one of the got in the face of a Griz fan who was in his 80’s and pushed him to the ground. They moved on without causing further trouble. With temperatures near 0 F, the man had so many clothes on the fall was well cushioned and he was not hurt. What made us all so angry was the fact that 2 security, and I mean 2 Bozeman policemen not campus security had watched the entire episode and were laughing about it. When fan rivalry and hatred went so far that Bozeman police would not intervene to protect an 80 year old man, Bozeman became nothing more than a drive through eyesore any time I traveled East.

I agree with Hauck. Rivalries should be intense only or mainly among the players, including former players. Fans should be more light-hearted about it, less intense, and enjoy it. It's fine and fun to crank it up a few notches during rivalry week.

Personally, I see nothing to hate about UM or MSU, other than perhaps few jerks from each side.

You made your urinal bed, time to fall in it and have a less than stellar experience at an old-timey steakhouse. I hope your wife ordered sides for you while you were swimming in the john. Enjoy the broccoli and butternut squash with your medium-well BIR.

Whoa holy cow that is over the line. As a cattle rancher I hope everyone’s steak is medium rare and juicy with no plant substitute.

Nope. He gets a “Bobcat Gentleman’s Grey” throughout after falling in that urinal. I didn’t make the rules. He can feast on the broccoli and butternut squash if he wants. And Bobcats always pile on the A-1 Sauce.

I don't consider the Bobcats a rivalry anymore. The Cat/Griz game is for in-state bragging rights is about all. It is a game I love to win almost more then any other because I have a lot of Cat family and friends and I hate eating crow! Now a rivalry, that would be eastern Washington IMO!

Not a rivalry anymore? Have you been reading the majority of threads on here this week? Cat /Griz is one of the biggest and most intense rivalries at any level in College football. I am sure that both teams, with the preparation they have going on this week, will vehemently disagree with you.

OK, not a fierce rivalry like it once was thought to be. Rivalry yes!

His quote about eating has nothing to do with the rivalry. He’s just classy, with good taste.
Would you rather eat at Lydia’s or Applebee’s?
Pork Chop Johns or McDonalds?
There is not a decent place to eat in Blowsman. All cookie cutters
This is butte; I only pee in a full length urinal or a trough with ice.
BTW, Goodfellas was shot in Lydia’s. Every time I’m in there, I see Jimmy Two Times meeting Frankie The Wop in one of those angled little couples’ booths.
Here’s a pic of me when the Ravs show up:

I disagree with Hauck. Everyone, even fans, have a right to be as intense as they want to be... barring physical or verbal abuse of course. Ironically enough though, I actually wish I was a little more light hearted about it. It would be so much easier on me.
