WOW, I do not believe people bitching about our qb play this year. Selle/Roper collectively have a 14 td to 3 int ratio. Their combined rating coming into the Poly game was in the top 10 nationally. To be honest these numbers could be easily better,if not for a higher percentage of drops than normal. Even Mariani and Palmer have dropped passes they normally would not drop. Gratton and Sambrano in particular are young and have to become consistent in catching, timing, decision making, and route running.
For those bitching about our qb play this year, it really makes me wonder what your expectations are? Honestly, are they not performing up to expectations if they are not the #1 rated qb in the nation, and/or putting up Dave Dickenson numbers? Are we so used to bitching about qb play it just comes natural now? This year and last year, qb play was/is rather impressive. 2005 through 2007 we at least had some credibility in bitching about qb play. The JW/CB year (2005) was a nightmare qb situation due to injury and inexperience. 2006 with Swogger and CB was inexperience and familiarity that resulted in solid, but not great qb play (Swogger with one more year would have been great, like Ochs). 2007 was a CB's 1st full year as starter, and we played things very close to the vest. 2008 Cole Bergquist was one of the biggest factors in having such a great year. Now in 2009 we have qb tandem in the top 10 nationally and with an excellent 14 to 3 td/int ration, and you are bitching!
Honestly to God, I feel Hauck has done a great job getting the W's he has with the cards we were dealt in various injuries, distractions, expectations, and inexperience. Rather it be at Montana or a bigger school these are things that all schools have to deal with, and Hauck has proven to me he deserves any opportunity to come his way. For this year though, quit bitching about our QB play, you are out of your minds to bitch about the results. The only legit complaint we have with our qb play this year is not deciding on one to date. FWIW, I am over complaining about it, because the team has adjusted to it just fine.
