hauck and tinkle

I was referring to things like not calling time out when the
other team is pressing with 6'6" people up front against
Ellis until we have 4 turnovers and playing 11-13 players
in a game(GU played 9 against North carolina). Also runing
players in for 2 min stints(e.g.chase). Basic mistakes.

Ballhog, when somebody puts you on their payroll to coach basketball -- NBA, College, or YMCA -- then we'll listen to your definition of "basic mistakes."

Until then, stay on the couch and eat some more potato chips. Talk about something you know, like Nintendo or text messaging. But don't waste your breath on basketball.

Just curious. For all of you "have to have head coaching experience" people:

What colleges were Montgomery, Morrill, Taylor, or Krysko head coaches at??? (I am not sure about Brandenberg). None. They turned out OK.

In fact, the last coach I can remember who came here with "head-coaching experience" was named Kennedy. How did that turn out for us??????

Tinks will do fine (although I do agree he has to become a little more "coach" and a little less "friend" to the players). O'Day is doing fine. The sky is not falling.

Krysko was a head coach at a CBA team prior to coming to the Griz. Coached the team all the way to the CBA championship game. Experience does help.

(That was kind of funny GA)

I don't think it matters if 6'6" guys are pressing Ellis, since anything over 6' would pose just as big a problem. He's not going over anything - must go around.

Funny, the word on campus today at Ohio State was that the Buckeyes lost to North Carolina because they didn't have enough players (and this was not a reference to Oden). Fans here thought that playing just 8 guys (which is all I think OSU has right now) we got tired out and that's why we lost. Had there been more depth, or if Oden was one of the 8, we would have won.

I guess the point is that unless you win, someone is always is going to say the coach should have done something different.

(Unless it's Griz football in '06 or Ohio State football in '02, in which case the fans are screaming bloody murder even when the team wins).

I agree with you. Don't listen to Greenie about anything. He is a jock sniffer who could never admit when a coach is wrong. You are a fan, and have every right to criticize the coaches, especially when you are correct, which you are in this case.

I just read George Allen's comments in the thread on coaching styles, and I see that we basically said the same thing about John Wooden. Smart man!

There iss only one John Wooden. To place Tinkle is the same sentense with him is a joke.

Yeah, I am, and don't you forget it. I played in high school, coached in high school, and was both a high school and NCAA college official. Any more questions? Didn't think so. Go back to sleep, Dud.

Where did you play, SGF that gives you the experience to advise any 1A coach? I forgot, being a ref gives you the credentials.

Wow. THAT and all the football credentials that you boast about. You are a god. A GOD, I SAY! I am not worthy. I am just not worthy...

Who cares? Does it make him better than any coach at any sport that never played? I think not. Playing does not necessarily guarantee being a better coach. IMHO we have it good in Griznation, with the coaches we have.

Another thing, SGF are you so damn good, Why not submit your resume and application to Jim O'day. After all, you always tell us what our coaches and teams do wrong and very seldom are happy with the outcomes, win or lose. I am sure with your knowledge and experience any team you coach at any level would win championships every year and be undefeated for your career.

These boards are not about anyone's credentials. We have the coaches we have and if anyone feels they could do better apply for positions.

I don't "advise" coaches. Get real. What is wrong with some of you dudes? But, I have played BB, coached it at the high school level, and officiated it at the college level. That's more BB knowledge than 99% of you posting on this board.

That doesn't make my opinions any more valid than yours. But, it does give me the credibility to make them.

Since I never played football at any level, I suppose I have no right to give an opinion.

I was merely responding to The Dud's little comment about me being an expert in BB. The truth is, I know more about the game than most on here, for whatever that is worth.

I don't need to contact O'Day with my resume. I am quite content in my retirement and wouldn't coach the Griz if you gave me ! million dollars to take the job.

Tinkle still needs to show me something to give him any credit. So far, I am more unimpressed with him than I was of Kennedy, who could never coach, or Holst, who was over his head at Montana.

I DO like many previous coaches. I loved Jud, Brandy, Monty, and Stu. The start of the decline was when Taylor was hired. Holst was not a good choice, and was given the job defacto because of all of the little "Hire Don" placards the uniformed held up at Griz games.

Kennedy was a travesty, which I called at the time he was hired. Krysto was a genius hiring. The book is still out on Wayne. He needs to show me something soon, however.

Can you focus on this thought for a while?

It certainly has not stopped you before. And you call yourself an expert...

Do I really make you look that stupid, Dudley? You are such a ditz. I'm surprised you continue to take such a thorough pummeling.

"Cause problems"? What a girly man drama queen you are, Spanky. Spanky and our Gang is right on the money to desribe you. Take another Midol for your obvious pain.
