Hauck’s Losses

Well, sixteen Coor’s Lights in on another domestic Friday and I’m attempting to recall the bad days we had with Bobby Ball...without cheating (no Google machine here)

No chronological dating necessary as the time dimension need not apply for this experiment.

JMU
Villanova
Iowa
Richmond
Montana State
Montana State
Wofford
Weber State
North Dakota State
Idaho State
Sam Houston
Oregon
Eastern Washington
Cal Poly

62% sure those are accurate, only one I’m uncertain on is if EWU was twice and if Cal Poly happened at all (playoff game maybe?).

The missing losses I have no idea, but it’s still pretty cool that after nearly a decade a buzzed dad can recall the majority of losses from one coach’s era. I think my accuracy would be the same for Stitt’s last three years.

Welp, someone tell me what the others were. I got two more water beers to go before I cash in this Friday.

Well one was that f***[*] up playoff loss to UMass 19-17 (I believe)...

Damn it. I was at the UMass game, which was awesome despite the outcome. Can’t believe I left that out

Don’t recall, or maybe want to remember, a loss to PSU

I watched that UMass loss from Dukes Bar in Scottsdale, AZ...I was so fucking pissed i was guzzling beer straight from pitchers. My wife had to pour me into bed that night.

After getting annoyed that I couldn’t think of any others, I cheated. And I would have never guessed the one I did find.

43-40 playoff loss to Western Ill. in 2003.

I give zero shits about haucks losses, considering there were so few in 7 years. Stitt had more in 3, and stitt is no bobby hauck. I’m biased, however, and spent my teen and college years watching. Hauck teams dominate. I graduated from UM in 2010, so my experience as a working professional and ala mater has been miserable. I watched from the student section all four years the glory of bobby hauck coached teams. Since I left the school it’s been tumultuous to say the least. So I’m crossing my fingers and hoping hauck has a second act similar to the first, but with a few wins in the final game of the season that sold fifty him in the UM coaches hall of fame. I love the guy and his approach to coaching. Just look at the difference now. Remember when UM had all Americans that were fucking walk ons?! When hauck opined in the presser that the big sky hasn’t gotten better, Montana has gotten worse,I believed him. Look no further than the lack of walk on all Americans. They were the staple of the hauck years and have been nonexistent since. That’s what we have to look forward to. Alphagriz1 and his like are fucking morons, because bobby can coach, and knows how to win. Go Griz

I remember that game freezing my butt off in the NEZ. One cold night. Still remember Swagger letting that last pass go for an INT.....could not stop the run on D that night.

Hauck's first year, it was a double or triple overtime game. Kickers trading kicks, then Snyder missed hit one off an upright to give Western Illinois the loss. Being in the band, and the kick coming towards the south end zone, it's difficult to forget that sound on a cold November day.
