I read this topic before others, so I don't know what has been said about Jordan on here previously, so bear that in mind.
I don't think it is ripping Jordan to say that he is NOT a typical of 6'9" player. He is a better 3-point/outside shooter and passer than most his size/height and has a good over-all game. He presents mis-match problems for a lot of Big Sky schools, who are typically shorter than the average D-1 team, especially NAU last year. However, he is not (yet anyways) a great glass-crasher/rebound guy. He has good height, long arms, good instincts and decent-enough leaping ability, but often gets bodied out of rebounds against superior or stronger athletes.
I remember several times last year where he got out-physicalled going for a 50/50 rebound. It really showed against Boston College, which got 15 offensive rebounds compared to our 23 defensive rebounds, and beat us 44 to 29 over-all. Those guys were monsters in the paint and we rarely play teams like that. His rebounds come from being in the right place, not because he is a force in the paint.
I don't know what criticism has been levied against Jordan (and I got nothing against him), but I would say perhaps he is getting too-much PT. He presents problems for SOME teams, but not all. I don't think he is so good that he starts and plays the majority of minutes, irregardless of who we're playing. I think some teams will present problems for us, where a guy like Gus Chase, even though he is shorter would give us a better inside presence if that is needed. I haven't seen enough of Chase to have a real firm opinion on this, but he avaeraged 8 rebounds a game last year and I have been surprised he hasn't gotten more minutes and opportunities, but I am sure his time will come. Hasquet is the veteran (over Chase) and Gus needs to prove we need him out there, and it's Hasquet's job to lose, but I gotta think Chase will get more minutes, epecially in certain games where we are not getting it done inside. Agaian this is not a rip on Jordan, but he has had great games and then no-so-great. 2 points and 0 rebounds in 24 minutes against Sac State for example. I think in games against real athletic running teams like them, we'll need Chase in there more.
Even after his 30-point game against NAU, he had only 5,4 and 4 in the next 3, so the average points per game is deceiving. He was very hot and cold last year. If he's hot, leave him in, but if it's not his night, we need to try other options.
He had a great frosh year, and I got no complaints about him. Perhaps too much is expected of him.

...but who's count'n. Reason he starts is that he's very unselfish. Usually gets to body up opposing teams horse down low to keep 'drew out of foul trouble. Run's the offense!! Next time you watch, keep an eye on how many entry passes to Strait come from Jordan. Ask Dlouhy who he wants on the court. I was listening the other night against WY, I believe 3-4 of Dlouhy's 3's came off of kick-outs by Jordan off the block. ( Unless Mick was lying). Sources tell me that Criswell wanted Jordan's redshirt pulled 2 seasons ago. I'd love to see him get 20 & 10 a game, and I'm convinced that it'll happen. (just maybe not this year). Let's remember...he was the tallest guy on the court his last 2 years of High School, but wasn't forced to play down low until he got to the U.

In honor of Hasquet making 1st team all BSC. Here is to Jordan!
This is the best example of many threads on the diverse early season opinions regarding Hasquet. To the naysayers, I guess Hasquet has a few eating crow now :thumb: :thumb:
For anyone with some time on their hands, search for Hasquet threads. It is amazing how a few were writing him off or not to sure of him. :clap: :clap: to Hasquet, this griz fan is proud of your season, now lead us to the BSC championship again.
He has proven to me it is much too early to give up on a player only in his sophomore season. I pray for this same kind of improvement next year by Swift, Graves, Staudacher, and Vanderjagt. Way to GO Jordan!!!!! :thumb:

Jordan is a new man. I wasn't sure he could be a rebounder, because i hadn't seen this type of performance previously. But, I'm not afraid to admit that he proved me wrong. He has improved immensely since last year. I think his shin splints and adding weight slowed his rebounding down last year. He is a complete player now and has been an animal on the glass lately.
