Haslam To Recruits

I actually emailed Kent. I just wanted to ask whether or not the verbals were guaranteed a scholarship and has that been communicated. I emphasized that now is a volatile time in the recruiting game and pointed out that Sean Anderson and others are getting other offers and trying to be poached.

He actually wrote me back. Have a new respect for him for that, especially in light of all that is going on. He assured me that Green is touch with all the recruits up to what the NCAA allows and that he is working hard to make this process move as quickly as possible.

If Kent is even making calls that is even more impressive IMO.

I agree on this front...every time ive written him an email he has responded. That is unbelievably respectable in my opinion. I for one think Kent is doing a great job as AD.....

I do wish hed hurry up and announce the new coach tho...lol

Just what Kent needs at this time of the process - a bunch of Yahoos bugging him. Jesus - Let the man do his job!

That’s good of him to email you back. I’ve met him and he’s a nice guy. However, I still don’t like the answer. He needs to just move on candidates. Mississippi State just hired Moorehead from Penn State they vetted 4 other candidates and made a decision. Mullen was hired by Florida on Sunday so in my opinion I don’t think Haslam was prepared for this. Criticism for Haslam is very fair.

I hear ya. I'm not defending him at all. Just wanted to let folks know he listens and replies. In fact, my email was pretty harsh and pointed out we are wasting valuable time and dragging this out way too long. I respected him getting back to me with at least some info.

That’s good to know some ADs wouldn’t respond to a email like that. In my opinion, however, still doesn’t change the fact that indecisiveness has had some negative impact all around on the program. Hate to see the reaction of this going another day or two with recruits, media shit storm, and the fans. Longer it goes worse it gets.

Perhaps it's not indecisiveness. Perhaps he just doesn't have time to finish the hiring process, because he is spending so much time responding to every email from every Tom, Dick and Harry. Heard he was getting a lot. Hope he's not going to go with the chatter from the masses, and ignore all the big boosters and former NFL and other players, as well as common sense.

This is where I get a little confused PR. Not saying I disagree however I think the masses are Important too. If the program relied on only Big boosters and former players Could it survive? Do not the masses make up the rest of the contributions to the program. Now I agree no one needs to be bothering the AD at this time. Is it normal that only Big boosters and former players have a say?

The "masses" I reference are the Twitter Mob and others. Should have said the uninformed masses, or something like that. From what I can tell, Hauck has huge support from among the people that go to games and follow the Griz. My view is that attendance would jump considerably next season if Hauck were here, and assuming he was successful, which I think he would be, attendance and interest would stay up.

Jeez, why would UM listen to a bunch of feminist types who are blaming the sexual assault stuff on Hauck. He had coached at UNLV for 2 years before anything was known and in the press.

If at least some of the big financial supporters are irked, and don't donate, how is UM athletics going to thrive, or even survive. UM's general fund doesn't have money to throw at the program. Even judging from egriz, I don't see evidence of the Twitter Mob and the MoveOn.org stuff and views. There seems to be large support for Hauck here.

Oops, double post. My bad.

Why can't Justin Green contact them.

Is this really difficult to comprehend? Because a recruit (read, "parents") know with certainty that Kent will be at UM next year to honor a commitment to a scholly. They don't necessarily know that about Coach Green. I know a few recruits parents; I can assure you they are reassured that the offer is safe.

How do they know Haslam will be at UM to honor the commitment? What if he got a better job? What if he got pushed aside? At least, Green has been talking to the recruits and they know him and have some relationship. Man, I wouldn't want a call from an AD I didn't know. That would be weird. When I was recruited, I don't recall ever even meeting an AD or knowing who they were. I wanted to learn about the school, meet a bunch of players, and spend time with a few coaches. Same with my kids who were recruited.

Recruits that visited UM, met coaches, came to Gameday visits, got offered and committed are not going to wonder off now. Unless a scholly offer is pulled (and that seems unlikely) I’m not worried about losing recruits. We always have a de-commit or two. But the arrival of a new coach is just as likely to bring in a couple new players as well. The December signing period is four weeks away. Most Montana players have been partial to a specific school and brand since junior high. If UM offers, UM will get those kids.

Thanks for your response. Yes I agree the "mob" of haters needs to be ignored. I also agree there will be a spike in attendance if hauck is hired.

I think there is a bigger chance of a couple of kids, including the QB recruit getting "bigger" offers. Any recruit who does his research knows the success that BH had here, and should be excited to play for him. However, we may lose a couple who don't handle discipline well. And that is perfectly fine.

Anyway, wanted to let you know Coach Stitt and I are no longer buds on Insta, but all is super chill for your full ride. Just cut a PO for another whack tackling robot, too! Hit me back when you get this. I’ll be blasting my delts at the Champ Center, lates.”

You need to post here more. Are you related to CDA?

I have him on retainer for ghost writing services.

Hmmmmm, sounds like maybe somebody has defected

I know you're hoping someone did.

Instead this sounds like a smart move. Reassuring the prospects with word straight from the horse's mouth that the hiring process is on track and that these prospects are valued.

If it is Bobby for once it it probably true we didn't want the recruit....either scheme wise or they aren't tough enough to handle it under him and need warm fuzzies
