Haslam/Delaney on the same page?

One can read between the lines for their own take on ol' Mick's future...personally I lean toward Kent's

Good info.

Thanks for sharing your opinions Tip. There were countless tense minutes, with everyone wondering exactly what is the Tip going to say about this one. WWTD - what would Tip do?

Maybe I missed it, but where did Haslam or anyone say anything to justify the headline of the Missoulian article, i.e. Delaney status up in air after '13? This must be another Florio headline.

Did you watch the video?

Yes, and I heard and saw nothing that would justify the headline in the Missoulian.

This is the same video and topic that's being discussed in the Delaney 2-3 thread. Nothing new here.

OK, guess we took different things from the video, but I could have sworn that even MD was not quite sure what the future looked like and KH said he was keeping all his options open. I also picked up on what was not said, but that seems to have escaped you.

Haslam didn't say he was going to "keep his options open". I didn't heard the term "2013" used by anyone in the video.

PR keep up your word play to always try to prove your point, but he did say "Keep his eyes open" and "network", "know whats out there" and "be prepared for a change that is inevitable". Those are along the same lines as a person keeping his options open. I also did not hear KH say anything about MD being the coach beyond his current contract, which does end after 2013.

What the hell did you expect KH to say. " We are going to stay with MIck regardless the outcome of this year. Read my lips - Mick can retire on his own terms. We don't care about the win column, boosters, fans or the University of Montana's football program that took so long to build." Quit over thinking and analyzing this thing. Bottom line - this season determines what decisions or non decisions KH will have to make. Wait and see. Simple as that

Sorry, I don't agree. There is no word play in my comment whatsoever. Haslam was not saying he was keeping his options open. The reference to "change is inevitable" was to the fact that Delaney wouldn't coach forever. Those things he did say were general statements, prefaced with: "In this business, ...." He said "coach Delaney is doing a great job as our head coach."

This.

I don't know why people are making this harder than it has to be.

This year give the guy all the support you'd give any other head coach we've ever had and hope for the best: playoffs, BSC champs, NC champs.

If he can't make the playoffs this year, he's gone.

After that, it gets dicey, but let's wait until we get there until we call for his head in May and start planning for the next guy.

Both men seem to have the right approach to the situation and seem to be on the same page. Any AD at any time is going to be keeping their eyes out for other future HC candidates. The good ones do anyways. Delaney is hungry to improve the program and is taking the approach of being around for a couple years. That attitude should be looked on as a positive. Nothing in that video should create any kind of controversy. Settle down...

I had a dream last night, actually it was a nightmare. I couldn't get the Griz/Bobcat game on tv for some reason and missed the entire game. In the nightmare, I watched the recap on the news. The Griz were losing 35 to 31 with just a few minutes left in the game. The Griz (lead by JJ) were driving and had the ball in the red zone like on the 15 yard line. It was 4th down and 4. The play call was a deep pitch to Canada to the right and Canada was tackled by 3 or 4 defenders in the backfield for a 5 or 6 yard loss. Just a dream though. I have all the confidence in the world in MD.
