Has Tamera Guardipee played

Mich Griz

Well-known member
at all this year? If not is there a chance she can get another year. It seemed like last year she was a force in the paint. I know she's hurt but she isn't even on the stat sheet. Is she done or can we get a 6th year for her?

I don't think hurt is the appropriate term. It may not be politically correct to say, but she put on a ton of weight in offseason and is incapable of maintaining any sort of endurance. The Griz program went out of their way to help her with this prior to the season (got her a trainer and had a special diet created), but she just didn't take care of business. She has been incapable of reaching the designated weight limit that would increase her endurance and, thus, her playing time. She has currently has a lot of trouble in transition due to her weight. This is unfortunate because she is so tremendously skilled for a girl of her size.

You are right on the money. Tam is lucky that she plays for Selvig as not a lot of other coaches would have put up with her lack of effort in the off season, in light of the efforts and $$ Selvig dedicated to helping her. Selvig wants her to get a degree 1st and foremost, and that is one of the qualities Robin has that set him apart.

I believe she was out originally with a hip problem. Her minutes, while still small, are starting to increase a bit. She's looked pretty good in the games I've seen. Because the Griz are so small and light in the middle, I think she could be a big help if she could get back into shape.

In the last game, she had 7 rebounds in 9 minutes. She's 19-37 from the field, including 2-5 from 3-pt. range. She's shooting 75% from the line. Has 11 assists and 10 turnovers. Has picked up alot of quick fouls in some games, 14 in total.
